China's Last Matriarchy: The Land Where Women Rule

China’s one-child policy led to millions of female infanticides—except in a lush valley known as the “Land Where Women Rule.” Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Lugu Lake is home to China’s Mosuo matriarchy. The region’s 40,000 denizens have come up with a unique own family structure that puts women in charge. The Mosuo’s…

  1. Taking care of home, making fabrics, preparing food from the garden. They are responsible for looking out for themselves. I think that is easier on single mothers, girls, keeping babies. It is better than having a man take off with another woman leaving with a job and needing daycare. I think it can be better in many ways.

  2. Wonderful people. If you think of it, this walking marriage idea is good as long it is not misused. I wonder if they allow others those outside their tribes to be a part of it either men or women.

  3. I don't see any difference with other societies except that the lady does everything, she is working, cooking, take care of the children and men are here just to f*ck them no more but they seem to be respected!

  4. Those Burmese Buddhist tribes are genuinely smart and precious CONTRARY to Bangladeshi or Syrian whose know nothing and are mad with their children !

  5. I am all for this way of life and gladly trade a western woman for one of these hard working self-sustaining women.

No man committed after divotce to an ungrateful wife for years of spousal support and taking my kids away. Especially one that doesn't know the meaning of a hard day's work.

Bring on the walking marriage; I am all for it.

    3 thumbs up
    👍👍👍
    😊

  6. Honestly, I should move there. It’s nice to be man and do not much besides having babies with as many women as I wish.

I would probably do some work in my kids homes just so I wouldn’t get too bored.

  7. The coming age will be the age of women.

Man has tried for five thousand years but failed.
Now he must give the opportunity to woman.
Now she must have all the power.
She must have the opportunity to operate and work with her feminine energy.

    The man failed completely.
In three thousand years there have been five thousand wars, and this is the record of men. A man only kills, as if his life is only for war.
There are some gaps between the two wars. We call them days of peace.

In fact, they are not days of peace.
They are just days of preparing for a new war.
They are preparing for another new war.
Yes, it takes a few years to prepare, and then the war starts again, and then we keep killing each other,

that's enough! Men have been given enough opportunities, now the feminine energy must be unleashed.

  8. This reporter is so young and clearly not married or a mother. Sleeping around without stigma is nice for young folks but really this is just a society where guys can bang chicks and not be responsible for their care or the children’s care. I can see why many leave and have traditional marriages. I live in a multi generational home here in the West with grandma, my husband and my two kids. Its nice to be with family, but I cant imagine not making family decisions without my husband or him not being allowed to live with us. And what did that woman say that they blew over? These women are TIRED! Raising kids, cleaning, cooking, farming and working while daddy just comes to bang mommy?! No thanks.

  9. Legend says Moshuos are leftover Mongols during the Mongol invasion of China. They went too deep into China lost touch with the rest of their race. I wonder if war actually promotes feminism and matriarchy. After WWII, Europian countries had a severe shortage of men and labors, so wives went out for work and became the decision maker in the house. Now women in Europe have significanly more power than women in the new world. It's easy to tell.

  10. I don't know how this way of living can be admired that much, honestly. I find it awesome that women have so many skills gained by their responsibilities and they are not shamed for being as sexually free as men. It is awesome that women are seen as so valuable and wise that they get to have the final call, but there is no balance in the responsibilities.
I can understand that it seems honorable for the ones that put "being a hard worker" as the highest thing. But yeah.
Just sharing that it wouldn't be for me to make apparent that this way of life is not admired by everyone who watches this.
Not trying to argue with anybody.

  11. This is xtreme vice! No wife. Just husband as sex object. Wonder whether they allow a tourist/non mosuo to do walking marriage? Calling all non mosuo men. Lets go to mosuo country 😛

  12. 1:09 Is it right to say that inheritance goes from mother to daughter? Isn't it the whole family that inherits? The uncles and brothers all continue to live under the same roof of the family, so nothing really changes except who's in charge of the household. I think many of our terms don't really fit with their traditional way of life. Marriage, wife, husband. Even matriarchy doesn't really fit. It's something else.

  13. So much lard, but everyone’s skinny? Lol they produce their own food. The entire video was the women’s working in the fields or doing sth physical that’s why they are healthy unlike the city people who binge on fast food and works on tables.
