China's BYD New Hybrid Cars: Ultra-Long 2,000 km Range For Under $14,000

BYD has unveiled a new hybrid powertrain capable of traveling more than 2,000 kilometers (1,250 miles) without recharging or refueling. 1. We have both the Tesla Model 3 Highland and the BYD Seal in our family fleet. Both are fantastic to drive, but the BYD offers better value overall. It's $15,000 cheaper and comes with a more premium interior and features. If Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) isn't your priority, BYD is a great choice. Australia doesn't impose tariffs on Chinese EVs due to the absence of a local car industry. This competition drives innovation and benefits consumers. Tariffs only enrich the government and corporations, leaving consumers with less value for their money.

  2. Any POS little 1000cc to 1500cc turbo diesel (VW, Hyundai, REnault, Fiat etc etc etc, does 1200 kms with its little diesel tank of say, 40 liters, at a steady pace ; ANY ONE; and they can be had for PEANUTS,used;
    IF you ADD to that,ANOTHER tank, meaning,say, 40 KWH of FULLY CHARGED BATTERIES….(and…THIS IS THE BYD TRICK:::::two fully loaded power sources….) it will do easily the 2000 kms;
    There is NO INNOVATION; just good OLD, ENGINEERING ; ANY car brand can do that.
    I do not need the AGRAVATION of the DUAL setup, too COMPLICATED, i just need the small Diesel alone.

  3. Good. These other legacy carmakers need to learn that they can no longer overprice their cars and take us for a ride. You pay alot and get very little. I'm glad all the Chinese cars are in my country. Their cars are amazing and come with absolutely everything in terms of technology and cost half the price of European and American cars. Most of their cars received 5 star crash test ratings and have so far proven to be reliable. People can now actually afford vehicles that they otherwise couldn't get and they get to experience features they wouldn't otherwise get to experience because in legacy brands it would've been optional for a huge charge or not available at all. The sales of American cars in my country is basically insignificant now compared to 10 years ago and European brands sales are down by 67%. Only Toyota and Suzuki are still doing relatively well but both losing alot of sales to the Chinese manufacturers who are offering better products with more features for alot less.

  4. As the West decouples from China the rest of the world should reorient to China. USA and Europe should trade with each other. Asia, Africa, Latin America should trade with each other.

  5. VW, and other old car companies treat software engineers like second class citizens (in their executive's mind, only MBA bean counters like them worth a damn) and pay'em peanuts while same group people could make 5 times more in silicon valley, they ain't ever gonna compete on software unless/until they drop that dumb attitude and pay up

  6. Beloved US government always stands by big business side. It forces regular citizen to pay more money for the same EV by tariff China. That is same as squeeze out average citizen money and give it to rich guys. This is called capitalism!
