Cassava shortage in Cote D'Ivoire causes price hike


The Ivorian attieke or couscous, which is made using cassava semolina, is becoming scarce and expensive both in Cote d’Ivoire and in countries within the sub-region. This shortage has become increasingly worrisome for many people.

  1. Did i hear lack of arable? Ivory coast is bigger than whole of UK so what is with this lack of arable land given this country geographical position? Two, this is why we need to open up inter-african trade. Probably farmers in other side of eastern continent like Cameroon -are probably seeing their produce go to waste due to lack of market!
