  1. Nowhere is perfect, as you quickly learn as a travel creator. And the biggest question we wrestle with as we create each of our documentaries is: how much do we show the problems of a place?

That decision is never simple. Do we understand enough about the country to speak responsibly? Are we free to voice what can be perceived as criticism, especially in countries where speech is restricted? Can we find voices and stories that accurately represent the issues? Do we have enough time?

We spent over a month in Cape Town, and the longer we stayed, the more impossible it felt to ignore what we were seeing โ€” the legacy of apartheid shaping everyday life in stark, visible ways; a deep frustration among locals with government corruption and mismanagement; one of the worldโ€™s widest economic divides, where the quality of your life and opportunities depends largely on what you look like.

What made it possible for us to tell this story were the incredible people we met โ€” some online, some by pure chance โ€” who opened up to us, shared their experiences, and took us to corners of the city we could never have reached on our own.

  2. Agreed. Most beautiful. Best time to come, first week of October (spring). If you didn't see it, you have reason to return. The Kirstenbosch is the biggest garden in Africa and downright incredible. The Vineyard is a super hotel in that area. You saw a lot, but that garden is out of this world at peak bloom. Out near the wine district. I really appreciated how you dealt with the cultural and economic inequalities. The people in Cape Town were all so marvelously open and friendly. I was about as shocked by that as the amazing scenery.

  4. Im so tired of rich americans/europeans judging the white people in south africa. Do you know how much of that wealth is european and american. Look at all the owners of wildlife reserves, camps bay, sea point. Dont be naive , what this human is saying is white people cannot be successful in south africa.

  5. This was GREAT! Your video just popped up in my feed as I sometimes do research on visiting certain countries / cities. I loved this posting. So in depth. An unexpected exposure of information. Through your presentation i feel like I visited Cape Town while not having stepped foot on its soil. Only now do I see that it is a documentary. Thank you for it. Good job. I've subscribed.

  6. This,by far the best vlog I've seen today and unlike some other dude I just watched.
I am a so called coloured from Cape Town. You,being both beautiful and allegant displayed a wonderful respect of language use and much decorum. You showed not only the rich and famous areas of the city of Cape Town but also its very, very poor areas of non white humans. So,I would love to commend you for that, dear lady.

Please do come back to South Africa it is really a wonder,a mysterious world altogether.
    โคโคโคโคmuch love

  7. South Africa has an elaborate social security system. It is not accurate that government is nowhere. The South African society's needs are great and they are not sufficiently covered by government's efforts. There is rampant corruption in government. There is racially based economic exclusions where non-white South Africans are still kept on the periphery. White people continue to continue to control the economy of South Africa and they have the privilege of the inheritance from apartheid. We are a resilient people in South Africa and we will overcome this situation too. We have not been able to live up to the promise of our democracy, but we are not done.

  8. Extremely impressive documentary. The creator gave a realistic depiction of Cape Town and the people without the nonsense woke messaging. Well presented, this was great, well done.

  11. Thanks to have given… …a voice to the… …oppressed… …most white people… …don't show this other side of… …cape town because of guilt… …how it benefits them.

  12. Do not for a second believe the masses are still struggling because of the legacy of apartheid 30 years later. That is the narrative their elected leaders feed them so they can steal en loot for their own gain.
