  1. Well, my opinion is if u paid for a studio session, then the beat and also the masters are urs, but if u had a free studio session at the guy's place then it's understandable that the guy owns the masters, so it's crystal clear that Maphorisa is being honest with himself and that's real

My advice is bring a laptop and make ur own beats there so that when the next guy decides to use ur laptop to make instrumentals, u can own the masters, be smart bout it, people who are usin' computers will trick yo' ass and I'll end up being a goner for real

  2. He's not wrong for that. It's a well known practice in the music industry that whoever pays for the studio session or owns the studio, owns the master recording.

  3. I think the problem with Phori is he doesnt educate these young artists. He isnt tansparent to them of how things work. His doing the same shit to young artists that big recording companies do. He is down right greedy and selfish. If it wasnt that way, he would have contracts in place

  4. first ppl dont know what a masters is,the master is the recording of the song not the lyrics or vocals or beat but the recordings of those things & therefore whoever owns the equipment and means of production for the recording owns the recording THE MASTERS, BUT now in the digital age there are two masters now, which is the project files (the stems & midi files) and the recording, but the ip for the lyrics vocals and composition are owned by the creators unless otherwise stated in a contract but for a song to be 100 percent there is collaboration therefore comes the splits lyrics, publishing composition (beat) and performance default 25% each,
