Hey, another tip, cause you realised, that the grapes shot went further than it's intended range, you can cheese with that:
You can select to bombard an area with your artillery, by just right clicking the spot on the battlefield, they fire on the selected spot regardless of the range. You want to first have normal shot selected and then just switch to grape shot and they still keep shooting dispite being out range.
While of course the damage it produces reduces with range, there is a sweet spot where you do big damage from a far as long as you use all of the cannons concentrated in one spot

dutchy you can place your howitzers BEHIND your infantry they will just shoot over them with an arc
Lb is pounds. Livre/Lira/the L sign for UK pounds all come from the Latin for pound. Because the coins would be weighed and a pound of coin was the measurement for the value of the metal (often silver sometimes gold etc.)
