As some visitors already mentioned, the building process should start with a soil research. Normally, even before you buying a land. It can save more money than the whole building is projected.
The land should be visited/studied in the raining season. In the dry season, all land looks maybe fine and in the raining season out of the sudden it might develop into a water logged area, which is a completely different building caliber, especially concerning the costs.
All foundations should be built as if water will reach the house. All materials for the foundation should be waterproof!!! Cement and the blocks until soil level should be made with the right chemicals, meanwhile they are on the market.
Waterproof rubber (300micron) shoukd be used in all trenches BEFORE any concrete is casted anywhere …….
You keep mentioning the draughtmnn designing the building… Architects are the professionals that design buildings… I will recommend you go in for a professional…

It all depends on if you can find good builders and labors. Because l been in Ghana 2 years and the building times here depends on your ability to pay for everything you need to complete a build. I seen places start building but takes a few years to complete.
