  1. This is honestly a big conversation. But I think a lot of these ideas are due to the fact that a lot of Black people need to colonize themselves and their ideals. These ideals portray, a lot of anti-blackness within the community that we not think it is but it actually is

  2. You're not wrong at all and honestly it just shows how powerless they felt as an adolescent plus how weak they truly are because how do you feel empowered by bullying your own child yet alone a child in general lol like??

  3. I am Haitian American and the whole “respect your elders” is a big part in our culture and I always despised it. Age doesn’t guarantee someone respect. If an adult disrespect you, you have every right to defend yourself. My grandmother called me stupid one and I remember one time when I called her stupid, she got mad at me for it and she said respect my age. It’s the hypocrisy. I love my grandmother but I have to hold her accountable sometimes. I feel like that phrase groomed us as children to accept mistreatment from adults. This why children are easy targets for abuse by adults, it’s an imbalance of power

  4. I feel as though you are right about the everyone deserves respect factor. Although adults naturally do deserve the upmost respect especially from a child. That's how life goes I think not only in a black household..
