I don't know if it's been said yet but you can do this haircut on shoulder length hair. it will turn out more like a wolf cut. you just can't do the curtain bangs!
Here to say thank you! I always feel like stylists never get enough layering and movement in my daughter’s hair. Plus in the SF Bay Area a cut is so expensive to not absolutely love it. This has saved me!

My hair now looks just like hers did before this cut, except its dishwater blonde with some natural sunbleaching around the face. Im looking for a job so I decided to go for it. I will take before and after photos to send or post. Wish me luck. Also I dont have the thinning shears so I guess Ill play that by ear, my hair is somewhat coarse so maybe it will be fine.

Does a butterfly cut work well with all face shapes plz?
My hair is already at my shoulders and I want these dramatic layers but I’m trying to grow it out, so how many inches should I cut? My hairs is rlly thick so it’s also to alleviate some of the weight. I’ve already cut one inch, playing it safe, but it doesn’t feel like enough.
So he did differently from his previous video than in this one. Brad pulled the back ponytail forward when cutting, in the earlier one. This one he pulls it straight upwards and then cuts. I imagine this would make a decent difference in how it layers/falls when let down. Anyone try both?
Just did this cut minus the curtain bangs – divine!!! I went very conservative with it but absolutely love it! I’ve been hating my long hair but all of a sudden I feel sexy and amazing!

I've been cutting my hair like this for over a decade. Different lengths, different bangs, ext, but I always get compliments and have women asking me how I did it. I'm so glad I found this video, so I can just send it to them instead of my haphazard description. I didn't even know it had a name. The butterfly cut is such a cute name, too. My older cousin showed this to me when she was in school and I was in jr high. I think the first time I did it was back then, but I didn't start doing it regularly until my 20s. This is even a great way to give yourself a trim. I do this every 6-8 weeks and just dust the ends to keep my split ends in check and keep my hair looking healthy.
