A cleft lip and a cleft palette should not be a life sentence of never being able to smile 😢 It really truly is sad when you’re born with a birth defect like a cleft palette and a cleft lip and six of your teeth don’t grow in because your gums are connected. There has to be away that that’s not supposed to be considered cosmetic. There has to be a doctor out there that can help me. I’ve been suffering for 42 years with wearing partials that rubbed down and chipped my teeth that I do have left and make my life miserable and all I ever wanted was a pretty smile of course I have the scars on the lips, and I don’t have any dip in my upper lip at all, but it would be nice to have teeth that I could be proud of And I think it’s really sad that if you’re born nowadays with a cleft lip and a pull off pallet it’s almost fixed within the first two weeks of birth. I’ve had 27 surgeries since 1976 just so I can feel some kind of confidence when I look at myself in the mirror. There has to be a way that dentistry sees certain patients as not cosmetic but as something more than what insurance will charge and insurance will charge them. I just wish there was doctors that had hearts that really cared about Operation smiles, and that you didn’t have to be a patient from another country and that’s another thing you shouldn’t be in the United States and have to try to fight to get insurance to pay for it operations so that I can smile and not have to worry about the fact that I have like eight teeth left and there’s nothing that they will do to fix the teeth that I have except for saying let’s pull them all and give you dentures. I would like to keep what I have and I don’t know now I have to pay $20,000 for each two thing it’s added onto it.

I have just one tooth on the upper side to the left…and I hide it whenever I smile and that's why I'm getting braces soon!
