Point of correction Lawyer Anokye, the first country to be defeated by the Germans in World War II was Poland, not France. The French were the 3rd country to be defeated by the Germans, after Poland and Belgium (even though the Belgians wanted to be neutral).

I like this host. Anokye doesn't even know when he's disagreeing with him. I can't believe Anokye is praising the British colonialist so much. Also, the coastal tribes signed the bond of 1844 to get British protection fro.m the Ashantis. The Ashantis would have negotiated for their own independence. That's why the British, to this day, revere the Ashantis: they admired their developed institutions and military prowess.

    Anokye always hides the truth.
The Europeans were ruling the land Ghana with the Ashantis from the 15th to 18th centuries, way before the Gold Coast was formed.

Ashanti was the main slave traders.
No man sold his children. It was Ashanti with their European counterparts who formed bunbits armies, who invaded other lands, Eve, GA s and Northern regions to capture for the Slave trade business.

The British and Americans were actively involved in the formation and administration of Ashanti. Ashanti sold slaves to almost all the european nations in arrived at the coast.
Slave trade was note active until the 15th century, it peaked from the 17th to 18th centuries (Asante Kingdom era).

The Gold lands were originally not for Asantes. They took them from the original owners through brutal invasion strategies.
The British used Asantes to destroy the Denkyeras and Fantes and other tribes Eves and Northerners, who made them not have absolute control of trade and the people of Ghana.

After the long era of Ashanti rule in coloboration with the europeans, and constant enslavement of the people.
Due to this oppression the Southern states had to formed allaince with the new European administration to help them end Ashanti rule, to protect them from Asantes armies and to also end the slave trade business.

The Southern states fought for their independence, they didn't betray Ashanti.
They fought for the freedom of Ghana.
Colonial rule was temporal to bring stability in the region, that was why they sent them packing after a while, Europeans always took advantage of every situation.
But who knows, Ghana could have been better, "if" we had left the British to rule.
    Why do I say so?
The evidence is seen in the current state of Ghana and Africa as we speak. Our leaders who took over from the europeans were worse off and more corrupt. The europeans only gave us to their partners in crime,by signing fake independence agreements.

Africa must destroy the current governing structures and form new once, to bring true freedom to its people.

This is where I disagree with the professor.
Kaku Aka was already in prison in Cape Coast before the advent of the Bond of 1844.
PROF Anokye might have been told a false story by the current so-called descendants of King Kaku-Aka I.
Kaku Aka I was arrested for tyranny and murder and sent to Cape Coast in 1935, where he stayed in house prison for 16 years until he died in December 1851.

Ghana originated from Assyria. When Ghana was chased out from that zones now called Palestine Iran and Iraq none was there to make history. God Almighty is great and powerful that is why Africa would no longer forget their history again nothing would be hiddden any more for the children of the 6/5/4 generations. If you thought that the Europeans would be out to give African the proper history and accurate you are missing, they would always omit the real part. I have been talking about Chana and his Assyra connection some people think that i am joking. The Europeans beat hell out of the Africa people displace them loosing their belongings histories and names only God Alimighty is bringing memories back. When the Europeans take any land they would rename it leaving few families who the will supress to death like the did on 4 corners of the earth and after a 100 years they would come back when the know that those left at that time must have died. Ghana is not different from the Yorubas, 2 face knives. Remember how Kwame Nkuruma show that they were ahead of all to gaining independence before other Africa they sign the part for the European to give them honour, hence they gained independence before other African counties so that they could be ahead of other Africa, as Asian Indian gained their own with the help of Gandhi to later rule the British and the world. Today other Africans think that Ghana stands as mother of the West African part of country that Nigeria should obey, the reason Nigeria seated in Ghana for Aburi accord. Ghana gained indepent in 1957, bible was given to them to share to the other Africans. Who welcome the British in Nigeria? Fela Animapo Kuti mother. It is real Tinubu turn. When this accord turned to a bloody war did they Ghane come to rescure the the Igbo. No. Just like kept silent in the release of the Leader of IPOB but was prepared to invade Niger. The present day Ghanian president trible claim they are superior to other tribes? No Ghanian would tell you that it is true. When Nigeria was created, it eas said that in the school children should be taught 3 languages of those that made up Nigeria, vernacular to enable them unite and speak in time of need which made these words WaSoBia, Hausa Igbo and Yoruba, guess what? Igbo was removed. Do you see that in Ghana their language is compulsory. Igbo in Nigeria was cut off. I tried going through the bible to find which tribe leaves a widow with nothing even after having a male child? None. Ghana does it. I have heard Chanaian claiming they are Hebrew Israel and so on. The head of illuminati based is based in Chana they ignored that and start performing ritual of yam festival this is appropriation of another people's culture. The only people that celebrates birth day in the past were the Yoruba then see how they ended John the baptist, conspiracy.Tell us if what they signed with the Europeans was not to lead all Africans as boss elevating them equal to the European handing like African big brother and European big friend? But did happen? Do the European like any black person including Ghana much? In some cases yes, by those who still recorgnise their hands in selling Africa. We must not forget that before colonisation signature slave trade has taken place all over Africa, many times starting from 800 before the turn of the British/Germany in the 1500. Ghana are still on the big brother sell out.

I like the show and want to chip in a few editing suggestions to liven it up with a some jazzy razzmatazz.

    Cameras-

Two camera angles on the guest.

1- OTS-Over the shoulder of the host

2-POV-Direct point of view of the host

3-Add occasional moving, tracking/panning camera shots of host & guest with wider areas of the environment (include colorful props, colored lights & shades) to enhance the ambience of the scene

    Dialogues-

1-Guest's dialogues should incl preludes of key elements of the question being answered – this will be make editing cuts much easier & make his comments coherent.

2-Preferably, guest shld have advanced knowledge of questions in order to provide less rambling & liner fluent responses.

This historian has a lot of inaccuracies. 11:36,he lied. Nana Kwadwo Tsibu was a Denkyira King and not Assin chief. Nana Kwadwo Tsibu joined the Asantes to the Asante-Gyaman war 1816. It was actually Nana Kwadwo Tsibu who killed Kwadwo Adinkra. Otumfuor Osei Asibe Bonsu got scared of his military skill and asked him, "Kwadwo, wo ko ma me mpo mi na wo ko fa". The executioners of Denkyira responded Osei Asibe that, "the day the red tiger will get angry, it will attack the black tiger" meaning the day Denkyirahene will get angry, he will attack Osei Asibe. Go and check the signers of the Bond of 1844, Denkyirahene Kwadwo Tsibo was the only king among them. His initial plan was to mobilize the coastal states to come and avenge his friend, Sawuahene, Nana Adusei after Osei Asibe Bonsu killed him. But the Asantes sent message to stop him and his army or union with the coastal Chiefs else they would be no peace for trade by the whites…

I'm really enjoying these series of history education. Mr. Frimpong, your passion in this discussion is palpable. But please, please, please. Never thank any god/God for colonialism. Even if you're comparing the British to the French. I'm sure the French would have learned their lessons too if they had fought the Asantes. It's like football. You can not always predict the results. I'm afraid that some people might even take that sound bite and say that some prominent Africans agree and appreciate colonialism. I hope not.

Bowdich expedition to Kumasi was before the Adinkra war, yet amongst the items he took to Britain and displayed in the British museum are Adinkra clothes which were made at Asokwa in Kumasi. Adinkra cloth therefore couldn't have originated Gyaman.

In my humble opinion I am curious to know why it never occurred to the fantes or asantes why the europeans never sold them slaves because according to the timeline they were fighting over lands and conquering each other. Is it because our chiefs did not know the importance of human labor like the europeans? Why did we value europeans goods over ours? Why does this side of our history sound like from the beginning of our encounter with the europeans we have been on their program?

I’m happy Nkrumah an Nzema also lead the country to gain independence in the same way the Nzema chief Kaku Arkah rejected to sign the bond. However, depending on who you listen to or read from you can tell a biased opinion in telling the history. This historian seem to paint a picture of the Ashantis as victims of colonialism and not major players which is inaccurate when you read or hear from other historians. Notwithstanding, he provides a good historical context and accounts and needs to be commended.
