  1. Colonizers have been doing this for decades I remember when none of were on tv .. and sis you are right my people some don’t know what is going on in the Motherland!!✊🏽

  2. Black people are a minority in America, 17% of the populationMake your own movies, TV programs. Stop expecting white people to pander to you…. Do it yourself….White people don't owe you anything.

  3. 80 HOURS?!?!?! That sounds extreme. No way 😳
    I barely watch television.
But confused cause then says older is 92%. So is this hours or percentages???

  4. Yep! Turn it all the way off. We're the most studied group around the globe so of course they know what's a true representation of who we are but like you said, perpetuating negative sterotypes supports their agenda. There were more businesses started by BW during the lockdown than any other group…yet you won't see any of that on prime time.

  5. YouTube is the best in these coming times.. just keep watching the young generation of vloggers..
They traveled the world .. just with their phones and show you every good stuff… uncut.. unedited… unbiased. They show you exactly what they see. Modern day self journalism..

  6. To Demetra Kaye:
The reason why black people don't have decent representation on TV is because our people don't own their own TV channels and because we don't own any company that produces movies. When you don't own any TV channels, media platforms and companies that produce movies, you will automatically place the representation of your people in the hands of another race who controls what you see on TV. And those other races will display an image about your people that serves the cause of their people even if it means degrading you.

  7. TV DUMBS YOU DOWN. THAT'S THE POINT OF TV. DID YOU NOT KNOW THAT? GET SOME EXERCISE AND EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT YOUR HISTORY AND HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIVES!❤

  8. It's just market forces at work. Black people have less purchasing power, so there is less incentive to cater to them as consumers. Just like the market doesn't care if people in Africa die from tainted water. That's what happens when your country is ruled by Mammon.

Honestly, as a 40 year-old white guy, I thought 1990s Black TV was the best stuff on. Martin, Living Single, In Living Color, etc. I absolutely could not stand Wings or Home Improvement or worst of all Friends.

If you look at the references Gil Scott-Heron makes in "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised", TV used to be even so much worse before more Black people started battling their way into the middle class. There's a wikipedia article called "Rural Purge" about how up until about 1970 literally almost everything on TV was white rednecks.

  9. To be honest, Demetra is the only correspondent apart from Phil that I watch. Also the woman in Canada, too. She's cool. No offense. Just my preference. Demetra is SMART and HOT. So an easy choice.

  10. A whole lot of TV in America shows black people /the LGBTQ community as being the bosses of many organizations and government leaders. So they are getting their share of representation.

  11. Watch The Demetra K Show and share. Watch African Diaspora News and Podcasts learn about yourself, chat with each other. Have discussions. Watch Lead Farmer he is ahead of the times.

  12. Some of the black actors are not good actors. Most of them act entitled. Furthermore it's always about sex sex is all they do on the screen. No meaning, no substance and above all their conceded on tv or movies. F'ck, f'ck, and more f'cking. No substance. Not the. Older actors I am talking about the newer ones and comedians. I don't watch us because I know what is coming.😢

  13. 80hrs a week? That's 2 full time jobs. Worried about how many of us are on television productions…but not worried about all that productive time they are wasting and wonder why we can't get ahead.

  14. The only thing I watch on TV is The Young and the restless and that's the best thing on TV , And the only thing I like on Tv I don't watch the black programs on tv because it's just like watching a white TV show.

  15. 80 to 90 hours a week having no someone else tell you how to think about yourself and what’s most important in the world. Sad that most media is dumbing you down. How about turn of the tv and get moving for your health at least. What you feed your mind will heal or kill your soul.

  16. 🪘 UBUNTU FAMILY LOVE B1, HAVEN'T WATCHED TV SINCE 2012 and eye don't miss it all bc I know what the deal is. I GET MORE DONE WITHOUT IT. IT DEMANDS YOUR ATTENTION AND PROGRAMS THE MIND CONTROL OF SOCIETY., GIVE ME A GOOD BOOK & I'M GOOD WITH MY OWN CREATIVITY …

  17. I'm working on my own 2d adult animation series, and quite a few of the main characters are going to be black. rn I'm working on character designs and padding for a higher subscriber count before I go full into storyboarding my pilot.
