The 31-year-old was arraigned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on July 2, 2024, and convicted the same day for conspiracy to commit an offence of human trafficking for s3xual exploitation.
 
The agency disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, adding that 45% of human traffickers are female.
 
“On July 2nd 2024, Joy Shipinen Tyona, a 31-year-old woman plead guilty to a three counts charge for organizing and facilitating illegal foreign travel for s3xual exploitation,†the statement read.
 
"She was convicted on all counts and sentenced to 7 years Imprisonment with no option of fine
