Anybody can let me know if the benin artist and craftsman had a value for their creations in 1600. Because I seldom wonder if they made these crafts without thinking once to sell them or price them. And if it wasn't until some random french noble charged other french people to pay just to see. He charged for the rarity plus the extreme difficulty to retrieve such work, and even charged the craftsman's labor price which he could have charged if the french had been honest and bouggt it. So i wonder if benin artist even cared at all. If today to see us upset and bicker and make a big point over these things, he would be confused and shocked or find it absolutely silly. Yet, i do hold many other reasons that justify the returnjng.
