I am not in anyway telling anyone not to HELP their family, but advising anyone living abroad to listen, pick the vital lessons and do what they feel is right within their capacity.

I remember watching a documentary on a trans woman from ecuador living in italy. she would always send money to her family thinking her mom was building a house. because she was trans and made money from prostitution the entire family would shun her, but were more than happy to ask for money. needless to say that when she visited ecuador there was no home and the money was spent on frivolities… very very sad. I would advise people moving to change their numbers and only send money to very specific persons (tends to be the mom, but regardless). tell the person youre sending money to that if they ever give your contact to someone else you will absolutely cut them off.
Respect to you saying the bitter truth to all Africans in Diaspora. Because some Africans residing in Africa will always complain. Regardless, of how much money one sends to them in Africa. These same some Africans are NEVER satisfied. Simple as it is. Afterall, it is free money they are receiving from overseas. I get amazed on the recent World Bank report that Nigerians in Diaspora (overseas) each and every year sends an average of at least 20 Billion Dollars for the past eight years (168 Billion Dollars have been sent to Nigeria for the past eight years). Nigeria still being the Largest Economy overall in Africa according to various online sources. Not to talk of other African Countries in Africa. One can even look it up online. Peace…

Right on, that's true. Africans we don't think or plan about retirement and we seem to use our kids as a social security or retirement account.
Some of these women get out here, marry some white man for papers, then divorce him. Bingo. Alimony. Thats what they send home. Oh, and guess what? They never mentioned that marriage to anyone back home🙄
In my case, I gave my sister $1,600 USD to start a business.. That’s $275,000 Liberian Dollars. Additionally, I sent my sister another $7,500 USD to buy raw materials for a home I was trying to build for our mother. The materials were never purchased and the business was never created. I am honestly done with my sisters and mother back in Liberia 🇱🇷. I AM SO DONE! 😢😢😢😢

You are lucky you even have papers, those without the right documentation either sink into depression or go to jail by using dubious ways to make money and please their relatives. I have a friend in the UK who has been here for 22 years, he is old now still waiting for papers, has nothing coz all the money he worked illegally he sent it home and he can't even tell what they did with it. The mentality has to change!

Here’s why you should stop sending money:
1. It makes them lazy.
2. It encourages them to keep asking for more.
3. Their problems will never be solved.
4. They never invest it to make more.
5. They can never help you when you need any help.
6. Most of them are ungrateful, once they get the money they disappear until they need more money again.
7. Just save your money and enjoy life. Stop spending life in your 20’s and 30’s trying to solve other peoples problems.
This is why Africans countries will never get ahead!! It’s the entitlement and mentality that they “take, take, take”… and never give anything back!! And God forbid if you stop sending money, they will guilty you to death
