Vietnam is marking the 70th anniversary of its victory over French forces in the battle of Dien Bien Phu.
It’s seen as a pivotal moment in ending French colonial rule in what was then Indo-China.
The US supported France in a conflict that ultimately led to the Vietnam war.

This was followed after France sent their French Warships and bombardments on the city called Haiphong, Vietnam on Nov. 23, 1946 and massacre 6,000 innocent local Vietnamese peoples in the city. France wanted to re-claim Vietnam as their colony to gather resources like rice to feed million of hungry French people a in France after their country experience a total devastation from the effects of Germany occupation of WWII. And the US President Truman allow them to do so. France is also where Ho Chi Minh learned about Communists during his younger years living and working in France.

Oh by the Way!! Laos and Cambodia were included in the French Indo China that Vietnam did not govern. These two groups were just as crucial to the liberation of Indochina as Vietnam was. and You said they weren't significant? Haha. Let's examine how to win wars through Indochina without the aid of logistics. First, you received arms from China. Laos (Laos Issarak) and Cambodia (Khmer Issarak / Khmer Viet Minh) helped with logistics. You guys seldom notice the simple things that really make a difference in helping you win battles. The Vietnam War is comparable in this regard. Your country would not exist without the Ho Chi Minh Trail that passes through Laos and Cambodia.
