  1. I hold a Masters of Science degree in Marine Surveying and am a British UK Chief Mate/Master Mariner. My research thesis found a frightening problem lying in the underbelly of global shipping since wooden ships sailed the oceans, and no one cares because "this is how we have always operates."

The bridge is not the problem. Below is the scandal…..

1st Problem) Maritime do not have sufficient redundancy in their technical design, unlike Offshore Vessels for Oil, Gas & Renewables

2nd) General Maritime run Vessel Maintenance practices that are archaic and over 60 years old.

3rd) General Maritime confers responsibility of producing Maintenance Strategies to OEMs which is high risk since OEMs do not know Operating Context of their equipment onboard ship.

4th) Most ship Maintenance schedules are arbitrarily derived which is dangerous because it causes invasive maintenence due to infant mortality in conditional probability of failure Analyses.

5th) Maritime do not produce Analytical Engineering Analyses techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Failure Modes Criticality Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, Binary Decision Diagrams, Life Data Analysis….because the Shipowner Technical Experts are Ex-Seagoing Chief Engineers whom are not Professional Analytical Engineers. Ship Engineers place Buckets under leaking valves to limp home, where they obtain OEM technical Engineers or Class Society help, but OEM have their own commercial agendas as too Class Socities whose limitations of liability rarely exceed 2million USD.

6th) Maritime has never brought any defence to the Resnikoff Conundrum because they are unaware of it. Again because they use wrong Engineers I.e. Ship Engineers whom are with respect operational mechanical, electrical and not analytical disciplined

7th) No Reliability Analyses or Reliability Management techniques are undertaken.

Maritime is the only industry on Earth that is running 2nd Generation Maintenance Strategies being over 60 years old and those that utilise 4th Generation Maintenance Strategies using Condition Monitoring confer this responsibility to the OEM who then over prescribe sensor monitoring to make more money when in reality only 20% of known ship Failure Modes benefit from Condition Monitoring. This is inherently dangerous for ship Reliability and Availability.

    Have a lovely day.

  2. Going over the FSK bridge in a coach bus is a frightening sight. It's as if there are no barriers just the road. You turn to look and all you see is water. That's why I can't begin to imagine what those construction workers saw as the bridge collapsed.

  4. The container ship looks too overloaded, so of course, it can malfunction more easily, or even breakdown. Don't experts check cargo ships before entering U.S. waters/port bridges to make sure that they are safe enough to steer/control?

  5. Something is off with the bridge and the way it all collapsed. Anyone seen the movie by the obamas leave the world behind ? I don’t believe anything that comes out of the government, these things are always planned. I like how they tell you the truth amid the lies, “ it didn’t look real, some of us thought it’s staged”

  10. Captured Russian assets all found in one car driving around Russia for weeks doing naughty stuff 😮 anyone knows separate cars for exit strategies 👍 common sense even my granny said that 😂

  11. This a good distraction from Russia since Russia found out these isis members come from Ukraine and was employed by them NATO handy work good distraction guys good distraction

  12. All the lights went out on the ship just before it hit so must have been complete ship system wide shut down 😮 backup system generators kick in usely within seconds which looks like what happened 😮 multiple systems must have failed to lose helm control

  13. Harbor pilots on board for guidance, but for the freighter Captain must maintain system operations.
IF there is a 'Black Box' on board maybe the freighter issue will be more apparent.
