Atiku Slams Tinubu Over Rivers State Of Emergency

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has frowned at the declaration of a state of emergency In Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu describing it as “political manipulation” and also an attack on democracy.

Atiku, in a statement released via X, Atiku accused Tinubu of purposely allowing the crisis in Rivers to increase and he blamed the administration for the increase in political tensions in the state.

“Anyone paying attention to the unfolding crisis knows that Bola Tinubu has been a vested partisan actor in the political turmoil engulfing Rivers. His blatant refusal or calculated negligence in preventing this escalation is nothing short of disgraceful,” Atiku said.

Atiku also connected the security breaches in the state, including the destruction of federal infrastructure, describing it as a failure of the government of President Tinubu.

He added: “Tinubu cannot evade responsibility for the chaos his administration has either enabled or failed to prevent.

“The declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State reeks of political manipulation and outright bad faith.

“Anyone paying attention to the unfolding crisis knows that Bola Tinubu has been a vested partisan actor in the political turmoil engulfing Rivers. His blatant refusal.

“Years of progress have been recklessly erased in pursuit of selfish political calculations.

“Punishing the people of Rivers State just to serve political gamesmanship is nothing less than an assault on democracy and must be condemned in the strongest terms.”
