I don't find it necessary to pit Black descendants of slaves against the Irish. They both had horrendous histories in the US. There were Black and Irish overseers. Being an overseer was similar to being a House Negro in some instances–a few more "benefits" but still indentured. Some Irish were also sold into slavery.
Not only did blacks toil from sun up to sun down but were routinely wipped bloody if their cotton quota was short. Then expected to work next day the same.
Its true what the Asian lady says ; Whytes would never last a cotton season under their own imposed conditions. They would look like cooked lobsters after just one day with the skin melanoma finishing off what the heat and beatings don’t.
