  1. I worked in NY for almost 3 months out of a year once. Always heard about the great deli food. I took a day off and walked to 3 different deli near my room. First one didn't have the first 3 things I ordered and seemed too indifferent to care. Next two were no better. Never did have anything from a deli. Found a gas station nearby that made a quick turkey sandwich I liked and I just ate there 2-3 times a week. Disappointed

  2. When coming to NY, you need to do a little research. Just because a place has bagels, it doesnt mean they're good bagels. Look up places that have been around for a couple of decades, where they have great reviews that mention 'a long wait time, but that its worth it.'

And yes, get a dirty water dog, or a pretzel, or a kinish. If food stands gross you out, go to greys papaya and get the two dogs and a papaya juice combo

  3. grays papayas hot dog in nyc are better than dirty water by a long long way also Zabar's both are found in the upper west side, my old neighborhood. i wish i could still afford to live there…

  4. I had dirty water hot dog in Washington DC. I only did it for the experience. And…yeah it was bad. Doubt NYC would do it any better.

  5. Need Tony today, the world has not been any improved because of your absence, Mr. Bourdain. Wish you could have stayed to enlighten us some more. Depression is a really bad thing and can get the best of any person.
