Can this work without grenadine? I don't know where to buy this. We only need this for a school project
You know, during the second semester of my freshman year of college, I picked up bartending as a hobby. Granted, I was obviously underage and couldn't buy booze for my drink mixing, so I made it my mission to find the closest approximations to real cocktails as I could, which is already pretty difficult when you yourself don't drink. I had (and still have!) a recipe book I wrote up myself with virgin versions of classic drinks. The Old Fashioned, John Collins, Bloody Mary, the works.
I made some of these for myself one day, and when I tried them, they weren't particularly tasty. I was distraught. Is this what the real thing is supposed to taste like? How am I supposed to entertain my friends with these drinks if they aren't any good?
Now that I'm starting another semester, I thought I'd breathe life into my old passion and make some additions to that old book. I found this video, and from the moment I saw that potion consisting of Skittles and Gatorade, I came to a realization: I've had the idea of mocktails all wrong! It's not necessarily about recreating boozy drinks. It's about making drinks that wouldn't be possible with alcohol. I think. Again, I don't drink, and probably never will, but I'm not all that confident that Skittles and gin or vodka would be a great combination.
You have opened my eyes, Yum Lounge. You've essentially started a new era for me, where my dorm's bar will be as colorful as a painter's pallet. For this, I thank you.
