From Obinna Odogwu, Awka
Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Revd Henry Ndukuba, has lamented the incessant killing of unborn children through abortion in various parts of the country.
He also expressed concern over the terrible state of hospitals in the country, describing them as death traps staffed with unqualified health practitioners.
The Primate spoke in Awka, the Anambra State capital, during the dedication of the Millennium College of Nursing established by the Diocese of Awka led by its Bishop, Most Revd Alexander Ibezim, who is also the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger.
Alluding to the bible, he said, “Pharaohs and Herods of our time are still after our children.”
Ndukuba called on the relevant authorities to look into the anomaly. He said that he was pleased with the establishment of the nursing school where God-fearing midwives and nurses that would help to better the country’s health system would be trained.
“Millennium College of Nursing will be the place where midwives and nurses shall be nurtured and trained; who when they have been trained and released into our hospitals and health centres, when women in labour come, they will help them to deliver safely.
“They will go with joy with their children. It’ll not be women who, out of envy and decree from the pit of hell, will want to destroy our children. May they never see our hospitals,” he prayed.
