Subscribed! Thank you so much for pulling this together with @toldinstone! Love his videos, and this interview pulled out a narrative/story telling separate from his videos. Wonderful questions by Julian, which brought about some unique tidbits that I haven't heard before! Still only 1 hour in and SO happy I have 2 hours left. Please try to organize more with Garrett!
FFS… this is like preschool knowledge for most Soviet ppl.. lol. And what's with stupid gay woke crap agenda Julian?…
Toldinstone is a legend. Glad to see him getting some podcast slots. Dudes an excellent teacher
Hey Julian! I doubt you’ll see this, but I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your podcast. I started with Joe, then went to Lex, stumbled on Danny and then found you.
I like the ones i mentioned, but your channel is different.
You have people on with multiple episodes, so much content that is connected to the other episodes.
I’ve been listening to your channel for that last several weeks, catching up on all these historical stories. Randall, Luke caverns, graham, Ben, Dan Richard’s, Paul Rosalie, etc. now I’m here.
Thank you Julian! I appreciate your channel and the work you do.
Gotta love Matt with #toldinstone ! Julian, hosting Matt earned you my sub!
Love this shit
Alexander the Great existing in real-life is questionable.
How does Toldinstone not immediately push back on that "pyramids were built by a super advanced civilization" nonsense? Easily the most disappointing part of the podcast.
Gladiator 2 is out now & if you know history behind the characters portrayed – its actually a good film. Stilll Denzel plays Denzel cuz its a Denzel movie lol
Had to check this out after the new Luke caverns episodes. SO GOOD. Let’s get Julian to a million subs yall cmon.
The Indiana fans are in for a treat this year!!
I love toldinstone. It is among my favorite channels on YouTube. If you like history, especiallu Roman, his YouTube channel is one of the best on this entire platform. It's world class history and story telling
„I am going to eat the clitoris of the pig“ – Julian Dorey, Nov 15, 2024
Mediterráneo moral
No one ever persecuted Jews because they have a different religion. Shaking my head.
Similar experience happened to me with statue of David
Nice
Ugh no. Ancient Greece was obsessed with Egypt. Ancient Rome was obsessed with Ancient Rome.
2:05:03 I do have to point out, usually this ivory tower doesn't regard things by laymen well, because what comes out is not that good.
What I mean is that either it's some conjecture without proper sourcing and proof, and would need a lot of work from one reviewing it to even start considering it. Or its just very likely not true from point of view of experts.
Disregarding, or prioritizing doesn't mean you are being close minded, as scientist, you bade your research based on most high value knowledge.
What I find is that scientists are generally most open minded people there are, they follow the evidence and acientific process. On other hand normal people are far more likely to to be too close or open minded, depening on how you put it. Too open minded in sense to just accept some random claim, or too close minded to accept solid evidence and scientific concensus.
2:0603 And to arrogance aspect, it might seem arrogant to just disregard something, but if something is untrue, and you get offended, that's arrogance. For some people, I might come out as arrogant talking about my field of expertise if I just constantly say how their conclusions/knowledge is untrue.
I do think there are arrogant and bullheaded scientists, but I would argue this is far worse problem in genral population.
AI cannot show what it hasn’t observed only what it’s taught and programmed to do
First Julian Dorey podcast I watched all the way thru, love the chemistry, Toldinstone could talk for hours but having Julian there asking the questions and keeping in context and grounded was super authentic. Also Julian get outta my head, I swear half the time the question I asked in my head you asked in the video. Great vid.
Shoukd have Beezer co host. Get some Delco boys in there.
The thing you said just before 51:00 is how I feel about the police and sheriff here in California and it might also be the same in other states. Nazi Germany got like that because they were just following orders, and the sheriff deputies are just the henchmen of the corrupt judges, they are simply following orders instead of upholding their oath to the Constitution. I actually just read in the Constitution tonight about how treason has to be called by Congress, and I thought January 6th rebels were perhaps going after the wrong people but it turns out Congress is not doing his job if it doesn't bring up corrupt judges on charges of treason.
this man is not an expert he is a LESTES
I’m subscribed to you now because of this interview
2:59:54 I’m just now checking the bio to see the guest YouTube channel and realized it’s the Toldinstone guy that I just subscribed to 4 days ago
Can you shut up for a minute so the guy can talk?
I love the Alexander movie with Colon Ferrell. They do make hom rather gay though lol
The slaves in Rome were basically just like citizen employees with, instead of financially restricted freedom, legalistically restricted freedom. They seem to have been treated fairly well in comparison to our understanding of how terrible slaves can be treated.
A slave in Roman times is literally what we call the poor today.
Bro, the interruptions were way too much on this one
Really dig your pod, please keep up the great work and super interesting guests. Buckets of interested from Mankato.
Brother, you ask such good questions. I have been stuck to my seat for 3 straight hours. God I love history.
This dude kn9ws nothing
Brother…
Everyone EVEN THE EGYPTIANS were obsessed with Egypt
They had archeological excavations at the pyramids at Cleopatra the II‘s Time
This is a great toldinstone pod. Thanks for getting him in to talk for hours. Im a big fan of his channel.
He looks like a Roman
I've been watching this guy's videos for years
Flaming pigs 😂
I hope you're really interested in ancient history. But it seems to me you're always looking for something to justify your ancient alien theory. I can assure you its bull. Hopefully you have more people on your podcast. Maybe be open minded and bringing on a Egyptologists and learning true history
Alexadar was Greek, this new 'western' rewriting of history is ridiculous. This guy just lost all credibility.
"I thank the gods to have been born a Hellene" -Alexander the Great (Arrian, Anabasis of Alexander. Based on the book of Ptolemy I Soter)
They we're using messager pigeons in ww1… I'm pretty sure one was awarded a medal
I've "famously" listened to both Toldinstone episodes about 10 times each.
Been watching Toldinstone for years now and I've always felt he was so underappreciated. So glad to see someone recognize him knowledge!
Awesome to see long-form Garrett, this guy is one of the must-subs for anyone interested in history.
Is Julian from the bay? “Damn Near” “it’s good”.
