  1. It's true bru I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦 Durban I always watch border control and I saw that they accept fruits from other countries which brings by people who just come to their borders unless it's Cango

  2. Thats how lantana got into Australia. A lady from england bought it here devistating the Australian bush, these types of effects have resulted in the strictness at customs.

  3. bio security is super strict, we don't have a heap of things like rabies, so it protects us from things destroying the agriculture and natural ecology

  4. Western Australia currently has a small bug that bores little holes into trees and kills the tree, we currently have a infestation moving across Perth city killing trees that are nearly 100 years old and older, it's devastating what this tiny bug is doing that someone from another country bought with them, if someone bring a apple and it has some sought of fruit fly we having seen and don't have in Australia it could devastate our fruit industry it's that simple, Australia has some of the best fruit in the world because of our rich soil it's growing in. Simple fact, some people just don't give a shit BUT we do.
    😠

  5. Customs (or Border Force as it is now called) do not deal with fruit/foodstuffs. That's the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service. And a valid visa is a prerequisite for even boarding the aircraft to travel to Australia. A small quantity of Mary Jane (very small, like enough to roll a joint) will simply be confiscated and a verbal warning given. Not a Bob Marley quantity though…..

  6. 100% true about fruit but it's not limited to fruit it includes various food stuffs, why? Because Australia is so secluded and extremely reliant on export any pest or disease that may be present on fruit, vegetables etc could be catastrophic to the native flora and fauna aswell as farmers so extremely strict bio security laws have been implemented to reduce the risk

  7. It's true Australian customs is next level, think it's relaxed a bit now but yeah fruit is a big one because of the bugs that may live in the fruit. It may introduce a new pest that kill crops that have not developed an immunity to it. There are dog sniffers, not only for illegal drugs, but for fruit/fresh produce, that will sniff your hand luggage while waiting for your luggage to arrive on the carrel. It is a big deal, there are border control shows on it.

  8. Our Customs is so strict with fruit/meat etc because we are an isolated continent. Anything bought in with fungus, bugs etc, could potentially wipe out our native fauna/flora, farms, livestock and/or animals. We are unique in that sense. We recognise it and police it harshly for good reason. We have a TV show called Border Patrol showing the weird foods that people try and bring in to Australia and it is incredible. The lack of understanding and blatant disregard people have for our rules, just because they want to bring a family member fish or fruit from a foreign country, makes me angry.
