It is actually real, Trump wanted to run as a Reform Party presidential candidate in 2000. He dropped out, but he had a pretty crazy political career. A man with no real convictions, switching parties every election season.
Trump did had his foot in the political (more of a left-side candidate but not that far left) arena back in 2000 but no one took him seriously
There's no timeline where people vote for Dan Quayle as president of the US. He's more of a gaffemaster than Joe Biden and Boris Johnson combined, and may have genuinely been stupid rather than how most "stupid" politicians are actually just evil. They should have just stuck with George W. Bush, an example of a typical "crouching moron hidden evil" politician.
Trump becomes President instead of becoming a TV celebrity. What a time we live in.
