Whats the name of the retaurants and their locations?
I have been to Athens several times. I love their local food!! I can never get enough of their delicious cuisines! Greece remains my favourite destination!!
How awesome!
I grew up in Vouliagmeni, south of Athens
Thank you for visiting Greece, hope you revisit some day soon!
do you like seabass , come and eat the best in the world
I want your life!😋
Do Greece once again.
I like how you skipped Bulgaria 😂😂😂…..because the food there is a nightmare 😅😅😅
There is practically no street food and in every restaurant you get a low quality of food for a LOT of money 👎
01:26 – The name of the Taverna is 'Diporto' as it has two doors (Dio Portes). As it is situated on a corner it has doors on both streets.
– There is no signs on the two doors, No menu is printed and no bills are given. Pay with cash, no credit cards please
– The food is GREAT and the prices are very low and the service is FAST!
– You eat what is prepared for the day (the daily lunch menu!), the wine is from the oak barrels on the wall … all made simple and not expensive !
– Get there by 11:30 … Because by 12:00 is full and it is not a very BIG place ! Local people working in the near-by Market go there to eat!
– If it is full, then go to the other taverna inside the market across the street.
lol, curious how many people searched for that restaurant.
There is no celery in the lamp. There is dill a lot, fresh onions and green salad leaves.

Πληροφορια για την Ακροπολη. Εαν τραβηξεις νοητες ευθειες, απο τις κολωνες προς τα επανω, στα 1800 μετρα, αν θυμαμαι καλα, σχηματιζεται ΠΥΡΑΜΙΔΑ, απ ολο τον ναο βεβαια. Αληθεια, ποιος εκτισε τις …..Πυραμιδες ;;;;;;;;
Γεια σου Μαρκ. Στην Ελλαδα ΔΕΝ γεμιζουμε τα ποτηρια με κρασι. Καποιοι που ειναι ποτες, δεν θα το δεχοντουσαν με τιποτα. Αν ξαναερθεις, να το ξερεις. ΠΩΣ ΤΡΩΣ ΕΤΣΙ ΑΝΘΡΩΠΕ ΜΟΥ ;;;;;;;;
Thank you for the tour of the city also. I've been to the Acropolis twice and love Greek food.
Greek food is always the best
Seems like a lot of youtubers visit the same places close together. Say hi to Bald and Bankrupt if you see him!😅

I have a permanent residence in Beaulieu Sur Mer France. I always lose 20-25 lb per month there. But since 2015 it's invaded by ISIS. They beheaded the lady who used to sit in front of me at Mass in Nice. They throw acid in your wife's face at rail stations and the Washrooms are locked.
I’ve been seeking ‘the food of my people’ for many years now and I read online today about the delicious food in Greece. This is my first search and I am blown away. How marvelous.
Wow! A taste of Greece….fantastic!!!
Very nice video showing food delicacies in Athens,Greece. The presentation is good and creates interest in Greek food.
Mark’s son is learning to do the famous eye closed, head roll after a bite of delicious food
You are very kind, thank you for all, health and joy to you and to your famiky!!
I don't understand this place. I was there in September. So many people blathering on about how authentic Greek it is. Four mediocre menu items, devoid of flavour, day in and day out, don't make this place authentic. Chick pea stew, sardines, beans, fava dip, and Greek salad – five items you see in every social media post is what's on offer. Every now and then you see a one-off dish of potatoes or meat, but overall, it's the core five dishes. Look at the photos in any review. People will say, "you eat what they bring" but they bring the same five dishes. When I was there, the man in the restaurant (and I use the term loosely) said he was going to cook orzo with meat but he hadn't gotten around to it yet. The bread was so elementary, that even the most basic bread at my local chain grocer is better than the bread here that everyone raves about in their reviews. There's no menu. There's no price list. You don't know if the table next to you is paying less or more than you (note: they probably are). Someone oohs and ahhs on about how "great the food is" and how amazing the bread is and now the people line up to eat mediocre food in a subterranean room that except for cleverly placed decorative wooden casks, would be nothing more than a basement or cellar not fit for storage, much less dining. Note: the space photographs much better than it actually appears. And yet, when I was there, people queued for flavourless food, were given nothing to wipe their mouths with, no side dishes (you all eat from the plates at the table using only the fork you're given), with all of it washed down with wine are warm as piss. Authentic is a relative term. And it's not so much a question of whether this place is authentic as much as whether it's good – and it's not good. It wasn't terribly expensive, but you can get better, "authentic" food elsewhere. There are so many better food experiences in Athens where you can sit in the open air, eat great Greek food, hear some music, and feel "authentic". This place is just hype for no valid reason.
Such a pleasant personality!
I watched this over 3 years ago (pre-covid) when I was researching for my holiday to Greece in 2020… that never happened! Currently in Athens and today we ate at diporto! It was amazing!!!
Why do you eat like this I can't finish the video
The Culinary Letdown: A Californian Quest for Gourmet in Greece:
When our food-obsessed group, proudly wearing our Californian foodie badges, decided to embark on a culinary journey to Athens, our spirits were as high as the ancient Acropolis. The land that gifted the world democracy surely had a plethora of flavors awaiting us. Instead, we were met with a flavor plateau that left us yearning for more.
The perpetual offering of souvlakis with unapologetically stale bread became a predictable fixture of our Athenian dining experience. The red and green bell peppers dolmas, while vibrant on the plate, echoed a monotonous tone on our palates. We couldn't help but wonder: Where was the fresh baked bread warm from the hearth? Or the comforting embrace of a hot soup or the gentle warmth of a well-brewed tea? Aspects that should have been staples in such a storied land.
Ironically, back in the Golden State, our local Whole Foods flaunts an olive bar that is reminiscent of a mini Mediterranean festival. Yet, in Athens, supermarkets seemed to treat olives with casual indifference, limiting their variety and essence.
Having explored more than 80 establishments across mainland Greece and its islands, our enthusiasm began to wane. We found ourselves booking a hasty weekend retreat to the gastronomic haven of Antalya, Turkey. And what a relief that was! Turkey, with its rich culinary canvas, proved to be a stark contrast. The food was not just food – it was art, it was a story, it was, dare we say, seductive
Thank you Mark Weins and family.
Greece loves you!
Amazing video and really nice research on plates. I take back what i said in the previous greek video! Thanks for the amazing work!
This guy will eat anything. He’s Like an alligator. I’ve yet to see him eat something he doesn’t like. Lol. How the hell he is skinny is miracle.
