This is not the traditional way to make this dish. It looks like it would be good and no doubt much quicker, but the depth of flavor the bone in chicken gives this dish and frying the potatoes before they go in the oven is so good. It looks like a great and easy week night meal if you just want some of those North African flavors. My husbands Algerian and this is one of my favorite dishes that he makes, but we've tried to use boneless chicken and it looses so much flavor and the chicken gets dried out.

I like this recipe, so quick to prepare and such a hearty meal. This will go so easily with any steamed green vegetables and flatbread. Could you use coconut milk instead of water at the end to make it more creamy?
