  1. Re: Emma I don't know about Nadine being her daughter, but now that Ben is gone, it is a good time to try to chip away again to get custody of Lexi. That's what I thought this was about from the start…

  2. The church moved him to protect their church from bad publicity and being accused and sued . The priests have an obligation to the church . The parishioner doing gods work was getting raped by a pastor who used her work for god and the people to abuse her! Kind of like happened on the original Good Friday . Jesus exposed the hypocrisy and self dealing of the church and they silenced him . But three days later he rose . I’m betting it’ll be a few days and Yolande will rise too with the other women in tow .

The fact that there are 6 women with Keanu , and six I believe with the pastor is interesting too . 12 victimized women .

  3. I think they were showing that it’s a grooming process and how the church moved him , how he chose his victims . Also how the wife figures in on his crimes .

The way he gets away with it .

  4. There might be a lawsuit with the church ! Depends on how in deep they are going to go into this .

And the baby farming isn’t done either . George jr is going to want to find his uncles and so will Gina .

  5. Patrick will definitely find out , but it’ll take a minute .

She’s going to react when he tries to love on her and there’s going to be a sudden change and Denzel is going to click that fast ! If not nugget ! Because they’re already watching her with the pastor and Denzel pegged him first ! That’s what’s going to happen .

Dean is going to prison but , there’s the meat thermometer to worry about ! If anyone at Easter goes to the trial , they’ll know and Linda and Johnny will have to do some spinning

  6. Hi gang, thank you so much for highlighting the terrible stats on sexual assault. Like you say thats just the ones that get reported. I'm sure 1000s of women that watched this week have experienced SA (myself included) so it was an incredible difficult watch. I couldn't go on twitter after and had to leave it for a few hours. I had a very restless sleep having nightmares about Yolande as well – it was such a powerful episode.
I really hope Pastor Clayton gets convicted of all the harm he's done. It will feel like justice not just for yolande, but for many women watching the show ❤

  7. The scenes with Yolande and the pastor and all the other people he's hurt this week were amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a show that wasn't a documentary discussing the topic and showing the pain of it as well as EE did this week, apart from maybe 'The Reckoning' with Steve Coogan playing Savile. It made me cry watching the hour long ep, it was so well done. It really highlighted the pattern of the abuse too, targeting a certain group of people, using his power to get away with it. I'm so glad they decided to cover it as it's common to hear about abuse in religious circles yet it's quite a taboo topic, but needs to be addressed to raise awareness and prevent it. Also glad they once again emphasised the fact that these crimes rarely get a conviction, the court process is often retraumatising for survivors which is horrible but to not even be able to get to that stage must be awful. Broke my heart when Delia said 'They don't believe me?' and 'I'm not compelling?'

  8. Spoilers below don't click show more if you haven't watched Tuesday 23rd April episode
I could be wrong but I perceived Nadine telling Lexi as her being delusional and thinking Lexi would be happy, which would persuade Jay to see them all as a new little family together. I also assumed that by Jay being her only client she meant that he was the only in person one and the rest of what she did was online. Again could be wrong that's just what I thought watching it
Edit: I eat my words 😂perhaps I was a tad naïve thinking it would be legit

  9. Massive therory could the reason why we had all five of these flashbacks is that the five women arrive on the square and the five women and Youlande become the new six of the square as they try and take the law into there own hands as they know it’s not very likely that Pastor Clayton will face justice for any of the rapes

  10. I just wanted to say, I was someone who was initially skeptical of the Yolande storyline when it was announced, not because I don't understand how important it is to show it, but rather because soaps haven't been handling the subject particularly well recently.

I don't know if you watch Corrie regularly these days, but the writers have apparently decided to recon a rape storyline from over 20 years ago by adding the idea that Toyah was impregnated and buried the baby somewhere (which is especially ridiculous as the writers at the time went out of their way to show her having emergency contraception immediately after it happened).

I didn't watch the Lydia storyline on Emmerdale, but I'm pretty sure that ended up turning into a Whodunnit? Plus, I think the Ben storyline was handled REALLY badly (right down to the warehouse stuff). Not to mention all the stuff with Dean's return. I think a running theme with sexual assault storylines in soaps is that they start off really well and fall apart once the writers become too interested in making things dramatic.

It really does feel different with this storyline (like the writers are taking it really seriously and aiming for realism rather than "drama"), but I think a lot of people were less annoyed about the show getting "too depressing" and more frustrated at the potential of yet another opportunity to make a spectacle of such a horrible experience.

But yes, I was very impressed by the episode and I agree with all your thoughts on it. The writers clearly know what they're doing this time, and I genuinely felt a bit devastated watching Yolande's reaction.

  11. Great to see you back! I think the friendship between Elaine and Cindy is refreshing and a nice change from women hating women just for the past. If there is an affair between George and Cindy later on, I think they are both mature women very aware that we all have pasts. There are lots of storylines bubbling along while the writers prioritise bigger ones. Prediction – Whitney dies in childbirth. The pregnant dead wife doppleganger storyline is great ! The Pastor victims were all older vulnerable women and he a trusted figure. I think his wife knows hence her behaviour to Yolande. Excited to see where it goes, the erasure of older women and power of youth and the church. All power to Eastenders and their female led storylines, it's been amazing!

  12. Thank god. I’ve been going through hell the last couple of days and this podcast, Watching Walford and Eastenders itself are the only constants keeping me stable at the moment as silly as it sounds

  13. I thought that both Linda and George’s acting last week was brilliant. This week it’s got to be Yolande and Elaine.

Also, this week, Linda didn’t charge Cindy for her drink; Elaine didn’t charge Patrick for his double rum and she also gave him a bottle of wine. Is it any wonder The Vic doesn’t seem to be making a lot of profit?

I don’t think the baby that Nadine is having will be Jay’s and Nadine is up to no good!

I too will miss Gloria and I thought that Eddie would blame George for what happened. I hope George does manage to arrange the funeral so Gloria can get what she wanted and rest in peace without Eddie – will Eddie really be able to arrange it whilst inside? I think Whitney will go to prison, Sonia won’t be able to have a baby and Whitney will give her baby to Sonia. I hope Yolande does report Pastor Clayton and the other ladies whom he attacked see it in the newspapers and come forward.

Finally, I hope we don’t see you at the same time next week! I usually like to watch you when I’m having my breakfast – today I had to watch when I was having my tea. Never mind, I know it wasn’t your fault.

  14. SA is all about power and control. Its obvious to me hes deliberately chosen older women for a reason. What i mean is that he may be punishing these women (in his head) for something his mother or grand mother did to him. Ive studied a bit of criminal psychology and why crimes are committed was a discussion topic. Its no excuse as he is a twisted individual and not everyone thinks like him but there always has to be a why.

  15. The yolande episode was just heartbreaking to watch. People wont know how they will react unless theyve been in the same situation. Glad elaine was there for her, but as i discussed with rob in the week i think she has her own trauma buried deep.

  16. "Don't blame me, blame this one next to me."
    Points at Pat.
Causing trouble from beyond the grave 🤣

On another note, regarding Whitney, I think that as Shona is actually bowing out and not just taking a break, it would be odd for Whitney to leave after all these years without a 'Julia's Theme'. Therefore she will get out of this Britney thing without being in trouble and leave on a positive note.

And just to add to what others have said, Angela Wynter was heartbreakingly brilliant this week. Yolande and Elaine's recent little rivalry was clearly a set-up for this week and their conversation in the launderette. As much as we all want Yolande to report that 'man' and have him incriminated in some way, I would also like to see Elaine keep her promise to Yolande so that Yolande knows she can trust her, and that if anything good comes out of this, it is their friendship.

  17. Brilliant podcast this week! Thanks Ree and Jazzy Phoenix the 2nd, I missed last week's episode, so it was was nice to have you back!
Yolandes episode were absolutely devastating, but beautifully done, I loved the background information we got, it gave character development for the pastor, and the audience a brilliant insite and understanding of the prosses victims have, there are so many words I can say, but I don't know where to start, my heart brakes for Yolande, and usually I don't feel sorry for the characters but the real people who have been through these other-worldly things. Amazing acting, and elaine was very strong in this, I suppose therapy is also on the house!
Nadine has to have more to her return, I would be up for an emma return as her mum, just would brake my heart for lexi if she gets a cousin and sibling, but she definitely wants emma back, it was only Ben keeping her away, so maybe something like the suzy/phil relationship will happen, I think this is the longest phil has ever been without a woman!

  18. I think the cindy George affair should wait at least another month, it went from the sukeve affair being exposed, and episodes later the jack Stacey affair starting, it's been just short of a month (I think) since that ended, so I think that they need to wait a little bit longer. Same with Dean and the pastor, they charged one rapist, and 2 days later, we find out we have another. They are brilliant storyline, but the 3 back to back affairs is ALOT

  19. Brilliant podcast and episodes this week. I like the bit at the end of Yolande’s when as Yolande started breaking down, the other victims did too like they all were suffering at the same time

  20. Just to quickly point out that the rape stats you said were those reported to the police. That tells you how pointless even reporting a rape is as not all rapes are reported. Shown by the fact that only 1 out 0f the 6 victims of clayton was reported

  21. With George Jr. And cindy Jr. Both on the end of phone, tipping on the rim of a edge of a return, and the George cindy kiss, it would be hilarious to see a relationship between the Jr's! I know that they share step sisters, but all of that incest goes out the window in walford 😂😂

  22. There is no way in hell this is the end of Dean or The Six, I reckon when Nish returns he will visit Dean in jail because he’s already convinced the six women are hiding something and either Dean will be released or he was escape probably in time for the 40th anniversary.

  23. What a time to have to mash two weeks reviews together! EE should be more mindful of your holidays lol. 😉 You didn’t mention how Linda may or may not cope with Dean being stitched up, she’s already shown signs of remorse over it. I don’t think Dean will be going away smoothly (though I wish he would!). It was such great writing, how the little threads of Dean’s behavior added up makes him look so guilty 🙌💀.
I do wish EE would’ve made more of the Lucy anniversary, felt like they crammed in too many big storylines the past week, I wanted to see more of Bobby as Ree said. Oh well at least we’re getting “too many” big moments instead of stories dragging etc 😂.

  24. Hi Rob and Ree 👋
I think the writers are trying to set up different ways that Whitney could leave with Zack kissing Lauren and also Whitney buying a baby BUT I think they are double bluffing almost and her exit could have something to do with the car accident that seemed to be inconsequential and quite irrelevant – maybe they missed some damage in scans?

I honestly don't know how she's leaving it's quite a weird set up for an exit but the only other plausible explanation is Whitney going to prison or something happening with the car crash or birth. None of these are a happy ending though 😢

  25. Missed you so much last week and now we have two (two!) weeks of super episodes to discuss. Like how satisfying the stitching up of Dean is, but also how both the actor and the writers nailed the way that sexual assault by a trusted person is absolutely gutting.
