1. Christianity was in Africa and part of that culture very very early and peacefully so.   One of the most revered theologians in Christianity is St. Augustine (born 354) who was from Africa. He wrote several books.  One on the Trinity.  His books are best sellers in Christian studies to this day.

   Irenaeus of Lyons, writing in 180 AD,  wrote that  ‘Simon Backos’ preached ‘the coming in the flesh of God’ in his homeland of Ethiopia (Adversus Haereses, 3.12.8). And going back further still, Luke writes of the 1st century conversion of an Ethiopian high official (Acts 8:26-40). 

   A significant number of the Church Fathers were African. Tertullian (150 AD) and Cyprian wrote from Carthage (modern-day Tunisia); Origen from Alexandria (185 AD)  Egypt; and Augustine from Hippo Regis (now Annaba, Algeria).
