Africa OVERLANDING Rig | Is it posible with a D/C Ford Ranger? | Walk Around update

Yes, the Ford Ranger 2016 T7 Facelift model is 8 years old in November 2024. Join me as I walk you around this overlanding rig and give you updates on what works and what doesn’t for me when overlanding the wild remote places of Southern Africa. It’s a cracker of an episode, and what’s even better, is the fact that the next series is announced…

  1. In my experience, the 1st 120,000 km with the Ranger is great, but after that, either get rid of it or expect all sorts of problems that will cost you a fortune to keep the vehicle going. For me personally, never Ford again. I don't care if it outperforms the Toyota Hilux. You can keep it. I need a car that will not leave me stuck 900 km from the nearest repair center. I can live with a little less performance, of which my Hilux has ample for my overlanding needs.

  2. Ryan the space above the hight of the fridge from top , and filling the whole bin cant it be put to effectiveness with a tray to pack jersys, grocery and other miscelleniouses??

  3. Thank you Ryan for the concise and well present video! I have a new double cab Ranger which I'm about to kit out. Do you have any ideas to take out the rear seats and use for water storage, fridge etc…. It would seem to be a good space to heavier items as really designed to carry two adults…Any input appreciate!

  4. Dear Ryan,
    My compliments to you.
Thank you for all your splendid videos and advice. Very factual and detailed.

I have a next gen ranger wildtrak at the moment that I am starting to build up for long range overlanding.
A question I have on your rim/tire set up. What is the actual OFFSET on your rig 285/65R18?

And for my situation what offset would you recommend using a 265/70R18 tire?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Keep up the good work. Love your youtube program 👏

  5. Hi Ryan, great video, especially the nature scene snippets. 😍 Question, how much does your vehicle weigh with all that gear you hauling around? It is scary how quickly all the kilos adds up with the bits and pieces one have in your kit. Do yourself a favor and go and weigh your rig, I'm sure you will be very surprised with the result. Keep well mnr. 😎

  6. Great video, thanks a lot! Honest and insightful reviews and explanations, and thanks for giving your reasoning behind things. Wish all the lads will show off their updated vehicles and setups 😉

  7. Been a while since my last comments… I also have a Ranger but 3.2 AT 4×4 and had some auto issues but the Rangers of late were really underrated….. your great content and video made me think about some of the stuff I would like to do… Good to see you back for 2024 … Thanks Ryan

  8. Hi Ryan, 6.6DBI UHF antenna is for flat, desert country while a shorter antenna such as a 2.1DBI is designed for hilly, mountenous country. Great review of your 4WD mate 👍
