Womp womp. These people know to do marketing and your company doesn't. Everyone's SaaS agile MVP starts off as trash. Yours included. Given enough time and money, almost any company can make what they promised.
I'm still not convinced of the core problem here. Sure companies that have half baked products can get a lot of instant clout by abusing these techniques, but if they actually don't have much substantial proof of products, how would they land the funding from serious investors? I would assume there would be a ton of due diligence that happens before investors dish out hundreds of millions!
Secondly, the issue of companies being able to launch incomplete products is not because of their ability to generate fake clout and hype around the products; it is because of ignorant enthusiasts that will buy these products without proper research. And there won't be many of them. I would imagine that most normal people would do a looot of research before spending $700 on novelties like these.
My point is, who does this harm? Not the investors, because they would (hopefully) do the due diligence before investing, we've had enough theranos-like incidents. Also, this doesn't harm 99% of consumers because they will see the bs that the company is trying to sell before they buy it.
