  1. That's no the truth.
The South African armed forces we're not defeated in any ocasion while in Angola.
Actually was the opposite, the South Africa armed forces with UNITA did inflict a Crushing Defeat to the FAPLA and the Cuban armed forces in November 1987 on the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, the biggest Battle fought in Africa after WW2.
The Cubans and the FAPLA never again tried to take the UNITA headquarters.
The FAPLA and the Cubans payed dearly on Cuito Cuanavale.

  2. Tbh video games brought me here, I really wanted to have a better understanding of the conflict

In the original Call Of Duty Black Ops II, in one mission, the protagonist fights for UNITA against the MPLA

(Fun fact: Jonas Savimbi's family sued Call Of Duty's developers for depicting Savimbi as a savage warrior)

In Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain, the protagonist fights for the MPLA against UNITA

This video helped me a lot, thank you

  3. You pronounced the name José in Spanish: /hosé/. Angolans speak Portuguese, so the correct pronunciation is /zhuzé/, with an open /e/ at the end, 2 sounds Spanish doesn't have.

  4. Thank You For This Video. It Was Really Very Nice & Informative. Thank You. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉💐💐💐🌼🌼🌼🌷🌷🌷🌹🌹🌹🌺🌺🌺🌸🌸🌸🌻🌻🌻🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍.

  5. I think that, while the "Resource Curse" is fuelling / financing such conflicts, the core issue of these conflicts is tribalism. Borders have been drawn that force people to living together, even though they haven't even learned to live next to each other. And as long as the current borders (across most of Africa) persist, this will never change. With its current borders, Africa will remain in a perpetual state of civil war, to the convenience of those who seek to exploit the continent.
What Africa needs, is a new "Berlin Conference", with the difference that Africans redraw the lines themselves along ethnic, linguistic and cultural lines… And start living next to each other. It'll be a long process and there will be more fighting. But that is the (long) way towards a sustainable peace.

  6. I have a friend that was in the SA artillery unit according to him the SADF destroyed the airstrip in Cuito and its not the truth that the Cubans won. The SADF killed so many Cuban soldiers among the side walls of the Lomba river that they feel sorry for they Cubans. So please spread the truth.
