Well some white folks are still trying to learn. When I was in college, I met this white guy who asked me to touch my fro. Now this was in 1973. The white boy had never seen a black person in person. He was taught certain things, and he was testing what he was taught. He asked could he touch it and after getting over the initial shock, I looked into his eyes and saw he was serious. There was something he needed to find out. He touched my hair and went straight to the telephone and called his mother and said. Mother you lied to me, this colored guy's hair was soft as cotton not hard and stiff like wool. He had been sheltered and miseducated. I was at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC. experiencing early integration. Sometimes you have to help teach them how stupid we can be.
