  1. Oh wow what great stupid hypocrisy, ban all meat then, or eat lots of dog meat, cow is sacred to Hindus, pig is harm to Muslims, and all animals feel pain so don't eat any meat you can keep a pig as a pet too and way smarter then dogs, wtf… dumb western hypocrital laws

  2. In South Korea, dog meat was not considered a staple food but a special food that cured diseases. Dog food in Korean, 보신탕(Bosintang) literally means "Soup that heals the body". I am a South Korean, so I asked my parents (born in the 1970s) if they had ever eaten dog meat, and they said they found dog meat very disgusting, because they both had a pet dog when they were young. But they also said they had very rarely seen a place that sold dog meat.

I also asked my grandparents (born in 1940s) about dog meat, and they said it was very common when they were children and that they had eaten it, but dog meat was very expensive so they could barely eat it. They said that there was no feeling of disgust or guilt at all when eating dog meat, but dog meat did not regard as ordinary meat like pork or beef, but it was more like expensive folk medicine or special food. And when they became adults and bought pet dogs for their children(my parents), they said they did not perceive their pet dogs as livestock at all. (Just as there are different species of pigs for eating and pet pigs)

Personally, I have never seen dog meat sold or dog meat food in my entire life living in South Korea for 21 years, and I only see it on the news often. But I realized the dog meat was quite common until recently.

  4. According to many survey, About 90% of South Koreans have never eaten dog meat. 90% may seem like a figure that dog meat is not common, but the actual percentage is higher since most people born before the 1950s will have eaten dog meat. On the other hand, among young South Koreans born after the 1970s, almost 99% do not eat dog meat. This shows very severe generational polarization. The pet dog population in South Korea is 10 million, which is one-fifth of the total South Korean population. As such, the majority of South Korean voters have been asking politicians to ban dog meat for decades, and those in their 70s and older have opposed this. Ultimately, unable to overcome the trend of the times and westernization, the South Korean parliament completely banned dog meat.

  5. As a vegetarian, I have never eaten any meat in my life because of religious reasons. However, I have never considered eating dogs as a wrong act. It is just like eat beef, pork, chicken, lamb etc For those shouting "eating dogs are barbarian act" while having their chicken hamburger, they are just being hypocrite and showing cultural hegemony

  8. i am korean Most Koreans like dogs don't eat If you go to the supermarket, there is no dog meat. Pork Chicken Beef Only sell Very little dog meat Only in very small places edible i hate dogs But dogs don't eat it.

  9. Hindu people doesn't eat beef but doesn't force other countries to stop eating beef. On the other hand Western animal rights organization is ignoring Korean culture and forcing them not to eat dogs.

I'm Korean. South Korea passed a law banning dog edibles because Koreans love their dogs. The current government of South Korea and the president of South Korea have created a law that bans the eating of dog meat, which proves that the current government of South Korea and the president of South Korea are very good. As a Korean, I welcome the passage of the dog food ban.👍
