“The president cannot extend his term of office, not even by one day”.
These were the words of Senegal’s president, Macky Sall before his election in 2012, but has he gone back on his word?
Senegal is in political turmoil since its leader postponed the February 2024 elections, with critics saying the move is just another way for Mr Sall…

Si akuje kenya😂😂
Ah, reminds me of jokowi in Indonesia😂
The most incompetent presidents in Africa are always those who most want to extend their mandates. The Senegalese people must free themselves from this sold-out idiot.
Ah come on. We all know that in almost every African country, the rule is: one man, one vote, one time. That lovely Chinese bribe money is just too alluring to resist.
The excessive greedy brutal murderous dictator Macky Sall is a disgrace to Senegal and Africa.
Unfortunately, another country follows the Putin playbook. Constitutional limits are there for a reason. No matter how dirty our politics get, or how dysfunctional our democracy, we should never degenerate into dictatorship or monarchical rule 😔
The shmuck may give Marcos an idea. "Delaying" elections. from 🇵🇭
African president with power 😂
Then did😂
All politicians are lairs , am yet to find a eeal one
🤷Why are Senegalese complaining?
70% of Ugandans🇺🇬 know one president! 😅
Well it’s Africa. What did you expect?
Part of the reason many stay is because those that put them in power don't want the gravy train to end. The other reason is the fear of what happens when they leave due to the things they do in office.
Know when to quit!
Typical authoritarian move: stoke unrest and conflict so he can say that the country is too unstable for a transition of power and use some sort of “emergency” act to remain as President. 🙄
Brought to you by the imperialist who vowed not to overstay🌶🔥🤣
Hopeless region
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Power corrupts everyone, no exception
I was initially surprised at the statement – if indeed he did honor his promise.. only to find out it was the Senegalese President. In Africa, 95% of Presidents wish they would be Presidents for Life.. and they are pushed on this nonsense trajectory by their wives and cronies who want to always enjoy the finest details in life whilst keeping them there.
Decreasing the length of each term makes sense, but limiting the number of terms is stupid, it means that people who are doing a good job and are popular with the people are unable to continue the same service they have provided.
Give Africa a break. Angel Merkel was in power 20 years +
At least Africans get to vote. What is happening in UK? Party decides the PM. New democracy
Sounds like Mike Bloomberg.
I love how Mauritius is and will always remain the only real democracy of Africa
