Chef Kwame Onwuachi of Kith/Kin is in the Munchies Test Kitchen to show why Nigerian jollof rice is the best kind. Kwame pairs the jollof rice, a popular dish served throughout West Africa, with red stew chicken and fried plantains for meal that’s part spicy, part savory, and part sweet.

Do u noe de wey?
I am American and I have never seen rice cooked in an oven….always stovetop. Also, too much grease. There's other errors but I can't.
My mother in law's jollof rice never looks like that. She is Nigerian. I will get her recipe.
We have to stop being closed-minded minded and try different stuff provided it's healthy.
E?! What is that? Jollof for bebe?? Soggy ting. Naaahhhhh
I am not Nigerian or know what Jollof rice is. But whatever he cooked does not look right. He said @ 3:19 he added so much oil so at the end the each individual rice is coated and separates. The rice he got at the end does not look separated. In fact it looks sticky almost to the consistency of a semi-porridge. Probably tastes fantastic, but if that much oil did not separate the rice, what's the point of using so much of it? Anyone with knowledge please explain.
Yeah. No.
This is funny
Jollof rice is not nigerian
Ghana 🇬🇭 jollof all the way😋😋😋❤️
Besides the sappy looking rice, what's so West African about it?
Just salt on the chicken? Should put all purpose seasoning, Paprika, garlic etc be more flavour
Once he caught the pepper, I had complete confidence that this meal was going to be fire
This is very similar to Ethiopian Doro Wat, except DW has more spice in it and it's stewed for longer.
There’s always people in the comments like “umm I’m from … and I’ve never seen it like this” as if your opinion means anyThing
That's a lot of oil. Probably want to use heart healthy options like olive or avocado oils.
As a Zambian who is obsessed with Nigerian Jollof rice i do not approve!!
Fucking disgusting. Skip the dried shrimp
I’m not African so I was curious to try it. I even ordered the powdered shrimp/crawfish on Amazon. That was a mistake. I intensely disliked the after taste that it left in my mouth. I’m an adventurous eater but This was definitively not for me
My West Indian soul died a little when I heard Kwame refer to those plantains as *plataaaaaaanes*. Isn't he from the Bronx? What's going on? Nigeria, I need some answers.
Why'd he have to start off the vid with such an extraordinary claim? Chef Kwame is trying to set off wars in these YouTube comments. 😄
I lived in Nigeria, never saw a jollof rice like yours. And by the way, jollof was originated in Senegal
This looks amazeballs.
I dunno, needs more oil.
This is when American Nigerian cook, looks like a foreigner trying to make an attempt. Doesn't look nice.
What kind of oil is that??
Never watched jollof being made but that shit don’t look right
This is a terrible recipe!
Didn’t add any stock to the rice
@00:25 he pronounced plantain the way Jamaicans do. I question his Nigerian cooking. Then his name is an amalgamation of Twi and Igbo 🤨 So is he giving us Nigeria or Ghana🧐 I am judging.
Hmmm! I’m east z African, our dishes are similar 💕
I agree that Nigerian is the best and I tried hundreds of different jollof.
