  1. The story is too hazy for me, hopefully the truth comes out soon. Something doesn’t seem right….the details dropping in batches is just so troubling

  2. So which evidence do you want her to use against him? How is he going to be caught for his crime?Even police are even saying what he did many years ago to the child is Statue bar because it's 7 years ago according to their useless constitution. Princess did the right thing. It is Nigeria where people/police manipulate evidence not to talk off when there is no evidence. This is Nigeria no way she can get justice without evidence even with evidence, they will manipulate it.

  3. Whichever way you can catch a thief use it. Even with an evidence people still want to twist it to favour the guy. Princess has done nothing wrong , what if she didn't give details of the said setup but comes out to say he was caught on camera.

  4. Hi Phrakleen. Like you, I think the child should have been protected – that is key. However, I think you have been in the UK too long and lost sight of some things, hence unable to emphasise with some of the adult players – particularly Princess. So I live in the UK too, but I've only been here only a couple of years and remember only too well how near impossible it is to prove rape cases because even the police officers can be complicit. Let's look at one dimension, and I think there are others but for the sake of time, I will only focus on one:

The scenario you painted with the suspect being baited by an adult in the UK is organized by the police – I have never known of such an option being offered to Nigerians. Nigerians are left to their own devices and most are untrained/unaware of how to deal with such. Even with the security problem in Nigeria, we see this self-help situation at play! So, yes the method employed to catch the suspect is flawed, but even with that method in play, Baba Ijebu still has his supporters and sympathizers, so what do you expect will happen if they had set him up with an adult? So, while I think the method wrong, I also wonder if the adult parties might have been partly driven to the corner and had to improvise, and lost sight of protecting the victim. No one having the option of adequate support from the authority will choose a crude and traumatic method – at least so I think. Living in Nigeria, I'd probably "force" a confession from the guy than subject the victim to that experience.

  5. 100% I agree with you Phrankleen. The whole idea is distressing, disgusting and disgraceful. So it's okay for the child to relieve the horrible experience all over again… so sick!

  6. I understand your point but don't forget that molestation and rape are criminal offences tried only by the state. A police office told the mother of a rape victim that there is no evidence because the pant and everything have been tampered with. He was clearly telling them that 'let the act be repeated and keep the evidence'. I'm sure without this evidence, baba Ijesha would have denied completely. I have that experience. These guys are predators and they will all deny!

  7. Well done man! Talking about child’s freedom of expression, it’s absolutely despicable the way some African parents, and people that think they’re older than you, shut you up at any attempt at questioning them. They’re just bullies, capable of ‘killing’ that inventive and probing power or skills in kids… and that’s why most people grow into a ‘timidified’ adults with no capability for logical reasoning. Still have a long way to go, shamefully!

  8. Phrankleen it's nigeria we're talking about not britain.
Nigeria is a mess. I honestly don't see any other way to catch this man. Even with the evidence… police and judicial in nigeria are corrupted. I personally wouldn't use my child or encourage anyone to, but when it comes to nigeria anything goes.

  9. Still wondering how they were able to subject the young lady through such trauma, when they know the child is yet to recover from the previous ordeal with the same abuser. The horror the child must have gone through in the process of securing that evidence, as a mother, I can't imagine making a child go through that.
Nevertheless, I do understand most Nigerians are ignorant of the implications of such an action, which shouldn't be and Princess herself not being a mother, not educated and informed enough in this area, also not trusting the police, did not take the right steps in getting justice for the girl.
Also, releasing the CCTV footage was for me the height of it all; it should not have been given to Punch. Princess has made sentiments and emotions over shadow her judgement and this case might not turn out well as she hoped. I just hope everyone learns from this.
Phrankleen, with your case, I feel your pain… justice will prevail, Esu the energy of justice and Ogun the energy of victory, will see you through, ase.
