NEW and Improved Ruger American Gen II
NEW and Improved Ruger American Gen II
Just before SHOT Show, Ruger announced the Generation II version of the American series bolt action rifles, and @Hoplopfheil dropped by to check them out. Like the previous generation these will be available in the standard size as well as the smaller, lighter “Ranch” models. The new features include factory Cerakote, spiral fluted barrels,…

Technically you said it 3 times.
I have one of these in 5.56. I love this gun but hate the trigger. It will not adjust below 4.5#. Has anyone modified the trigger on their Gen II yet? I searched youtube and Google and all I find is first generation parts and videos. Nothing on Gen II
It's a matter of taste, but I just can't love spiral fluting, it messes with my OCD.
I have friends who like it. (Weirdos)
When will the 350 gen 2 be available??? I need this! Yesterday lol
Ok, but what calibers are being added. The guy hop was talking to kinda slurred his words. I caught 22 something and 400 something. Love the gun though 👌
is there going to be a go-wild version of ths? not sure i love the stock color or twisted barrel.
The looks of it are growing on me
So has Ruger corrected the problem with the soft steel of the bolt, what about the weak firing spring problem.
So the american hunter magpul .308 is good to go. Not a treking rifle. Found getti g that plastic rear bolt tail piece back in place a pain. Youtube to the rescued. Am happy with the heavy barrel. Would've preferred 24" though the 20" seems adequate for range distances available. This is the first C.F. bolt gun …everything else is rimfire. Thanx Ruger…
I want stock iron sights for this firearm.
Do gun companies deliberately try to make their guns so butt-ugly ? 🤢🤮
Needs a bayonet lug
Ruger is so fucking underrated dude it kills me.
I am jonesing hard for the 6mm ARC version of the Gen II Ranch (projected Q2 ‘24) even though I know the ammo is crazy expensive. Seems like it would be such a capable little rifle.
Seems just about perfect. My only ask would be for a flush mag of some sort. When I'm hunting solo i tend to carry it with my hand there a lot, as it's generally the balance point. Can't do it with a protruding mag.
They are gonna sell the crap out of these things, though
Does this mean we might eventually get a Gen 4 Ruger Precision Rifle with these bolt improvements, so no more zipper sound?
7.62×39 takes full cap mags without modification?
As much as I wish the standard version kept the 22 inch barrel I give ruger kudos for giving so many cartridge options at launch.
I have the 5.56, that brake sure thumps
Ruger rep may have lost his razor somewhere, but his long beard did not cloud his knowledge. Great to see his enthusiasm and insight on the new iterations. I always felt like some of those Ruger had a very gritty bolt action especially when using AR or Mini magazines. This seems like a great improvement with great attention to detail. Great coverage by Hop and TFBTV.
Looks like this will be the new "savage"
Waiting for ruger to either:
A: Make a 450BM rifle that takes ARmags
B: make extended mags for their 450BM.
Either one. Ruger. Do it.
Nice. Every rifle should have a threaded barrel now. I’ve been looking for a soft shooting bolt gun with a 16” barrel that doesn’t break the bank as my son’s eventual first deer rifle.
Not to shabby. The list of replacement hunting rifles continues to grow. Intro music was on point too.
The price is to much, i think they gonna lose a big chuck of the markert because os that! Other companies will take their place in this budget category
I really hope they look at doing 8.6blk in their american line up.would really fill the void.
Other than the goofy, excessively tall stock, this seems really cool – might have to get one. It would be hard to go prone with that giant cheek rest.
They finally fixed the bolt unlocking even with the safety on. Only rifle I own that does this is my gen 1 Ruger American. Has cost me several nice deer.
