ECOWAS, in present days, is being used to push Western Agenda, not what it was founded for. For example: the war in Liberia in the 1990s was started by Charles Taylor, a pro panaffricanist, because of Taylor stance on global politics, and a proafricanist, pro Gadaffi, the West funded ECOMOG (ECOWAS Troops), to thwart Taylor's effort of taking power. ECOMOG begain a faction in the conflict. Through them, lots of factions were created. Lofa Defense Force, ULIMO K, ULIMO J, LPC, LURD…all were gear toward pushing Taylor out.
Inside the West African political field, there was a division. Togo, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast refused to commit troops.
So, ECOWAS today is now convoluted to serve the West.
Hail to Burkina Faso, Mali, and Níger. I hope many West African countries break away from ECOWAS.

Africans do not support coup leaders. They are criminals that broke the law of their countries to get into power. Africans support democratic countries of Ecowas. The coups leaders are not elected by the citizens which is why they coups leaders only support themselves. Only leaders who are voted into power by the citizens have the support of the people. Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger are afraid to have elections and that is how you know those leaders have no support from the people and don't even have enough respect for the citizens to ask the people for their vote of approval to be in power.
