  3. Finally Zimbabwe! I am so stoked! I used to dance isitshikitsha at school. It was part of the curriculum hehe. If you notice some of the dances are in class or school stage or community gathering. I quite looked forward to it because not all were chosen to perform for the parents. I used to look forward to watching Jerusarema (which is Jerusalema in Ndebele. The Shona do not incorporate an 'L'). It was so legendary. Mbakumba wow I had forgotten about these dances. The young ladies balancing indiwo on their heads were just so impressive. I have never heard of or seen Jiti lol. Whew.

  4. I am Zimbabwean n we hv bn messed up by christian religion n western culture that says our culture is demonic n anything European is classy n heavenly… 😢😢😢😢😢😢

  5. African dances, music, language and food in my opinion reign supreme. I might be biased as my mother is Eritrean-Ethiopian. Regardless of where we come from we are human. Love to Zimbabwe from UK 🇬🇧

  6. Great dances. I am from the West (California, USA) and I noticed that some dancers had western style clothes. I wish you had the original outfits and nothing western. 😊 but I loved the fances

  8. So, some of them are said to conjure ancestral spirits. Is anyone dancing ever worried about conjuring up a relative passed on they didn't like? That would be my first concern….do I really want to conjure up someone I dislike.

  9. I saw a group called Black Umfolosi in the 90’s. They mostly sang but did a few dances. They had one in coveralls which was for miners stomping and slapping their clothes to shake off the dust from the day’s work, very memorable. The other dances were often two opponents confronting each other for dominance.

  10. These dances are wonderful and beautiful. I wish they were longer and there was an explanation of each dance performed. So very beautiful!! Thank you for putting them on YouTube so people all over the world can enjoy them.
