  1. It's a sad thing that people can't express themselves when it comes to their identity. In America if a person is of mixed race then they have to deny one of their parents heritage and identify themselves as to who they look like. I'm mixed with Indian, African and Irish and refuse to deny any of my parents or grandparents as none of them abandoned me. We can't be ruled by what strangers thinks.

  2. Complete bullshit. in South Africa we have colored, white and black race. I have white/yellow skin but falls under colored because Im not born from a white mother and father. That is how we classify our races in souht africa.

  3. She comes from South Africa so that is part of her common tongue I dated someone from South Africa and she said the same thing it's just her way of speaking. she should not get cancelled for it or you keyboard justice warriors need to calm down and find something more important in your lives to be doing

  4. Americans think the world revolves around them. It's a SA reference to mixed people that has nothing to do with the American history with that word. if anyone is ignorant is the ones abusing her that don't know what South African history

  5. Why must Tyla change her ethencity just because she's in america who the fu@$#ck is america she is coloured /aborigional just like i am khoi decentdant im from south africa and im not going to change my ethencity for no fu@#cken body period

  6. Go and check the history of other countries!!! in South Africa the government OF THE TIME classified us COLOURD on our birth certificates, IT WAS THE law of our country please EDUCATE YOURSELF ON south African HISTORY

  7. The meaning of Colored in the US & the meaning in SA are different. LEAVE HER ALONE. She is not from the the US so the disrespectful meaning attach to the word here. Is NOT the meaning in SA. If you don't have anything nice to say just SHUT UP.

  8. Perspective is everything, whoever commented about the South African term is 💯. You gotta know cultural boundaries and where we stand in the diaspora.

  9. You do know there is a world outside of America! While the word “colored” is virtually taboo in American culture, it is not in South Africa. I suggest an education on the history of racial classifications in both cultures is in order.

  10. By the way Tyla aint Indian if she is referring to so-called Indian. The Original name is Barat or Hindustan those people are Hindo! The only Indian is the Copper Complexion American Indian! 🌎🐢🦅🏹🪶🩸

  11. American Coloureds, regain and be proud of your coloured heritage, dont be allowed to be put down by the westerners! We as SAfricans know better than youz if it is derogatory or not, you dudes are not the leaders of the modern world…we are proud to be called coloureds. Snap out of your inferiority complex!

  12. I live in south africa and didnt realize this was derogatory in other countries as there's very little people that become THAT famous that didnt do it somehow in America… her fame happened over night from south africa and im glad shes bringing our country and cultures to light. Leave it to America to make something innocent racist.

  13. American is too sensitive when come to race.. as the world citizen, we accept the diversity.. everyone are different in colour and race.. everyone are beautiful in their own way and should be pround of own heritage

  14. So this makes me think of the “color of friendship” that was my movie, at that time Disney had SOME good stuff not all. But the girl from south Africa kept saying colored and i think that’s just how they actually speak there. I feel that South Africa is still very ignorant about cultures even tho there is a bunch of different people there.

  15. I don’t see why everybody’s getting upset about her saying she is colored my grandmother did not like the word black she always said colored a lot of people prefer that word instead of black!

  16. I think this is a huge debate in the West. Not where she's from. Because they know what she's talking about. The Western populations needs to relax. Get off the internet and go smell the fresh air.

  17. So for the rest of the WORLD, pls TAKE NOTE: let me school you. In Namibia and South Africa, ‘Coloured’ DOES NOT have the same meaning as it’s known in the US for black. Coloured in these countries is a mixed race person. In fact coloureds (known as yellow bone) is an ENTIRE ethnicity / cultured group in these countries. LOOK IT UP, educate yourselves and thank me later!!!

SN: living in Europe I came to know that Africans are actually the most educated people when it comes to others cultures. No one know anything about Africans and yet feel the need to make comments about someone being proud of where they’re from / or who they are ! We as Southern Africans know what she means by being ‘coloured’

  18. The Internet and social media make it too easy for people have something to say just don't support her if you don't like her or if you don't agree with her views

  19. No Twyla’s should not be canceled i really don’t understand these people she can say that she is colored and not African-American when she’s mixed with a lot of different other race just because of her skin is brown does not mean she’s all black I don’t know why u people always have to get in the race thing i knew she was mix up can tell she was not only Africa from her and her hair and her features so get over the fact that she she said she’s not just one the color you cannot make someone say that they one color because that’s what you are and that’s what you like to be, I don’t like to get into these debates, but it was wrong for you guys to even speak like that about her. She is only 22 years old and if she is mixed up different races, who are you to tell her who she is she knows what her family is you don’t she does I think she’s very talented and you can tell she’s not African you can tell she is mixed and she’s beautiful. God bless her and her family. You guys need to stop this dumb stupidness bullying people because you just want them to be one color who the hell do y’all think you aresaying she hast to be canceled. They need to deal with you.

  20. Wow this world is sad. She’s not from here. Let her identify herself the way she wants… I mean that’s what it’s all about right??? Men can be women, and women can be men now. At least she is exactly what she said she is colored. She has many different colors in her, and she doesn’t have to ignore any of them. Just listen to her music, if you want to. If not, keep it pushing!!!! People of the world are too into other people. Try getting along with the family members around you and stay happy!!!❤

  21. Some Americans move like a eediaat dem nuh know nuttin about South African culture and have no clue about dem own heritage, roots and culture and gwaan patriotic deh pon capture land
