Everything goes with jeans! Don’t hesitate to wear your blue bags with jeans.
I have totally banned myself from purchasing any bright color Bags. I have tried them several times, and they just never work out for me, I don’t ever grab them. The last bright color bag I purchased was a very bright orange Marc Jacobs the tote bag. The color was beautiful for spring and summer and I truly loved to look at it, but I never carried it, not once. I wound up selling it. I have always loved backpacks. My Palm Springs mini infrarouge is my most used bag til this day. I use my regular monogram canvas 1 a lot too, however the infrarouge is my #1. So as far as bright color bags, my PSM in infrarouge and my Pochette Métis in infrarouge are as close as I can get to bright color bags. I realized that’s because they have more black in them than red at least in my eyes lol. This was a great idea for a video. Good to see you my friend.❤❤
Another good Autumn video👍
Tiffany and Fred is addictive. I discovered a year ago.. I had to stop!
Oh no, I was really worried you were breaking up with me. 😉 Loved this video. It is funny how our likes and dislikes ebb and flow!!!
Autumn thank you for sharing this review. I had a discussion with a friend who laughed about how I have " Bag Requirements". Over the years, I realized that my bag must meet certain critieria like dimensions, material, quality, and strap length before purchasing. Every time I made an exception, it never worked out. My love for suede, calf hair and patent leather bags has come to end.
Excellent discussion Autumn. The one style that I’ve determined doesn’t work for me is ….. flap bags. I like a bag that is easy to get in and out of, so I’m a big fan of hobos and totes. The nice thing is I don’t feel the need to spend $10k on a Chanel classic flap.
I can so relate to this video on so many levels!! I have the same issue with blue bags, I think they are so cute, but the few I've bought over the years ended up just sitting in my closet, so I've finally learned not to buy them anymore. I've also learned that large bags with lots of dividers and compartments just frustrate me, so no more of those either. It's a process!
Hi Autumn. Happy Easter! I love your Handbag Tracker, what a great idea! I am an ebay handbag seller now for about 11 years and this will come in extra handy. Thank you!………….Tammy
It is a fun video. I am curious if you compare Fendi and the dupe. It looks really small. As for the ban island, it is so true. I don't like Navy bags. I like Navy color clothes, but not bags. Yellow is so hard to wear and it almost never match the other yellow I have in my closet.
Wait, what about that stunning shades-of-warm-cognac TB double bag of urs?? If ur sending that to Ban Island, hit me up first. I have it, but need another one for my sister to keep her away from mine!
The LV Neverful in MM. It just doesn't work for me. Bought – sold – repurchased and HATE it. About to resell it, and it is in perfect condition. It is the handle length. Not a fit for me. Use the GM, can't use the MM….
I tried to get one of those from Tiffany & Fred but it is $329
Great thoughtful video Autumn! We all have preferences in shape, structure, material and color. When I'm drawn to a bag, I try to think of what I have that's similar. How many small, structured, brown signature canvas bags do I need? But it's also a trap to say "oh they have it in purple, I don't have a purple bag"!. There might be a reason I don't have a purple bag. Better to have another brown bag in rotation than a purple bag that's never used.
I love this topic! I tend to avoid these…. small, structured, top-handle, long-strap only, excessive number of pockets, flaps or other fussy features, non monochromes or neutrals, prints or textures, and non vachette/vegan leather or nylon. Essentially, I love black oversized smooshy vachette/vegan leather or nylon tote bags. Sometimes I will bring in accent colors with my bag accessories.. makeup bags, wallets, etc. Thank you for the fun video and interesting topic! ~Mia 💜
I've banned fake leather; I just won't waste my money on inferior quality anymore.
Bluejeans are a neutral. They literally go with everything. ❤
That’s how I feel about mini top handle bags they are just not practical for me
I loved this video.
Heavy, top handle only, clutch, tote, floppy, boxy, vivid intense color bags are all banned.
I don’t mind waiting for the next bag until it’s just what I’ll really wear in my rotation and wardrobe . First the color, feel, and then priority is the crossbody strap option so it’s close to body and hands free.
This is a super fun topic. Over time, as our lifestyles change and we try more bags..we learn what we love and what we don't use. My lifestyle changed a lot in the last 10 years, working from home for the last 10 years. I went from many big bags ( not that I carried a lot, I just liked them). I go out socially a lot , and now love "smallish" bags. My two faves are Coach quilted Madisons, heros and quilted tabby 26. I recently decided to sell my rogue 31s and buy rogue 25s(I do prefer the more unique ones). I will never buy a brown bag, I just don't like brown. I also don't like gray or orange. If I want neutral, it would be black or chalk. I do have some pinks, kelly greens, 1 red, a few blues. Who knows what the next 10yrs will look like. As my tastes have changed, I do sell to fund the new!
Gray bags go well with black shoes. I love the color burgundy but it needs to be the right shade. I have a beautiful leather Tom Ford bag in a deep burgundy. Colors that I don’t like for me are teal, pink, orange, yellow, green and white. I think a red purse is ok for November & December holiday months but that’s it. I stay away from mini bags, useless for me. I also don’t like clutch bags anymore. I detest backpacks 🎒😬
Slouchy unstructured bags. They just look sloppy on me and not cute and effortless. I haven’t bought anything bright because I usually don’t like bright bags, I’ll wear a bright shirt but not bags. I try stay away from faux leather, I have a few but they are special occasions bags, in the past with faux leather ones after a while they peal and even though they were inexpensive I’m still annoyed.
Autumn, your video struck a chord with so many of us who have faced similar dilemmas in our luxury collections. The concept of "banning" certain items, not because we don't love them but because they don't suit our lifestyle or preferences, is both relatable and enlightening. Your thoughtful categorization of colors, materials, and styles that you've decided to part ways with — or are contemplating doing so — provides a great framework for all of us to reassess our collections. It’s a reminder that the essence of a well-curated wardrobe lies not just in the beauty of the items but in their alignment with our personal lives and values. Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences, prompting us to think more deeply about our own luxury buying habits and how they reflect our individuality. Looking forward to more content that bridges luxury with practical wisdom!
I am really interested in the Picotin lookalike but when i went to the website, oh i dont see it anymore. Isn't always out of stock? or maybe i do not see it here? The one you had is so beautiful. May i know what is the size etc? I wanted it from Hermes but since that is so hard to get, i must as well get one lookalike first to see if i love the style. Yes, i will avoid patent leather too as the weather here is wet and hot all year round. I will even avoid box leather as i do not like scratches on my handbags and for sure bright colors although certain colors like tiffany blue can be exception. Thanks for sharing 😍
I do not like red or orange. I like pink, black, purple, and blue. I also like nylon bags. I live in a southern state where it can be really cold, really hot, really rainy, or really snowy. I also love backpacks, belt bags, and crossbody bags. I hate having to carry my bag. I want them to be hands free. I also hate bag that are so small that only cards fit in them. And I hate huge bags. I have a few. But I don’t see myself buying anymore in the future. I want bags that are small, but can hold a decent amount.
Fun video! I always love to hear others “bans” in relation to their geographical location!
Great topic and I have some of those bags that need to be banned. No super tiny bags and tote bags for me. I am gonna have to go look at the Tiffany and Fred brand. Tfs Autumn 😀
This is really an intresting topic! It's really useful to think about, so I gave it a thought myself.
1. Handbags with chain handles – these chains just get stuck in my hair and hurt me ;(
2. Too small bags that don't fit my regular stuff – I just don't reach for them
3. Tote bags – I just don't have much use for them at the moment, although they are often very tempting
4. Bags that are not made of leather – canvas, artificial leather etc just get ruined in our climate and nylon is just not my cup of tea
5. Bags that cannot be worn crossbody – at the moment I just prefer being "hands-free" 😀
6. Bags in very bright colors – just too difficult to match with my outfits (which are usually colorful)
All the best, Autumn, keep going with your captivating videos!
Like you, as a retired teacher, the tote bags are used very rarely. I tend to designate them for certain occasions. I have my movie tote, travel tote etc. Living in Florida I rarely use my black bags. Mostly when I use one of them I’m at a funeral!
I don’t like red bags and bright colors.
Backpacks styles. Ugh! I’ve had Portland Leather, Louis Vuitton and Coach and I’ve sold them all. I love the look, I love the capacity but no, they don’t function well for me. Banned. But still tempted.
Flap bags dont work for me so they are banded
The Picotin look one looks so good 😳🙈
I love beautiful brown bags and I have too many of them. I just can't get rid of them. They're too beautiful…
Great video ❤😊
Great video! Ha, I have the same issue with tote bags. I have so many that I rarely carry since I work from home and usually grab a crossbody bag when I'm running errands. And I like gray bags, too, but I'm always am stymied by how to style them, especially since I don't have gray shoes either.
Great collaboration. I agree with the taupe and browns. Your reasons are valid. Enjoy your bags and Spring in the PNW
I do love taupe & brown bags, in fact warm fall colours seem to be my thing too, no wonder I love watching your content, the more I watch, the more I'm realizing why 😜.
Anyhow, I'm starting to purge my collection of bags that I don't reach for & finding that bags that are too long on me are going to be banned from now on, as I'm short & I don't like the look of them, which is also why I don't like backpacks either. And, if I can't adjust the strap & it hits too low on me, they too are getting banned. Colours I'm not a fan of are also burgundy, purchased one bag & have never used it. Also, have one small light pink bag, which is enough for the amount of use it gets and one light blue bag, same reason…. so see? I was listening to you and thinking omg she's my twin! 👯😆🤣
Another fun Video Autumn, loving the content you keep bringing out❣
Loved the look of the old medium Chanel Boy bag. Just wasn’t for me. Didn’t wear it even one time outside. Expensive lesson.
I love totes. Now that I'm retired I still love totes!
I have ended my relationship with Jacquard handbags. I purchased a Gucci Jacquard camera bag and I used it a few times and the fabric looked awful and became dirty. I sold it. Years ago I purchased a Dooney and Bourke Tote bag in Jacquard print and it began to unravel after a few wears. I sent it back and the return experience was better than the bag. No more Jacquard for me.
It’s you, not me. 🙂
Love this concept of banning items instead banning "myself from shopping". I think my brain will accept this concept better and help me to move forward with better intentional shopping!
