Nikki is in a party that has a significant number of nostalgia led MAGA folks. Some of whom I personally know and love, but are so loving of the past economics that they do not want to accept that racial disadvantage was (and sometimes still is) a human rights tragedy. Many of these people want to believe that seeing a president Obama in office is proof that we are no longer a racist country.
I am not going to apologize for Nikki, and there may be something to her philosophy that is even deeper that her need to court a group of people who have been led by info-wars to be sensitively insensitive.
But Nikki has to show what she would like to do in the domestic policy too. And this racial historical and current issues point is one she needs to address. If it is about courting MAGA folks, I think she underestimates the intelligence and adaptability of typical MAGA voter. I would throw in white voter… but I actually know MAGA voters of all colors. So.. mostly white voters, who want the country to be producing more and securing borders from undocumented migrants; who do not have an across the board view of the countries racial imperfections.

Facts: The US is not a racist country. The US was a racist country. The Republican party is not a racist party. The Democrat party that supported slavery, the Confederacy, Jim Crow, segregation, George Wallace, Strom Thurmond, and Joe Biden is and has always been a racist party.

The United States was founded on principles of equality and freedom for all individuals, but systemic racism has persisted throughout history due to the actions and beliefs of certain "individuals" and groups within American society. It is important to acknowledge and address these issues in order to strive towards a more fair and just society for all individuals.
