The Money-Saving Technique That Got Me a Year's Supply of Dehydrated Foods
There’s nothing I love more than finding great clearance deals that I can preserve to get my pantry stocked up fast. I have the best luck with greens, but whenever I find a good clearance – I stock up to get that food dehydrated and on my pantry shelves! I have food for the year and save a ton of money, too!

I cant wait to learn to dehydrate
Wow! Awesome tip on putting the mesh on top of greens!!!
One canned product that might not hold up to the test of time is tomatoes. I thought I could use an old can of rotel that I found in the back of my pantry and it was not good. Had a distinctly metallic taste even though it passed the basic tests. We do a better job of rotating our pantry now. I love your videos and page Darcy! I'm still trying to decide on which dehydrator to get. The collapsible one has obvious benefits but I keep hearing such good things about the Excaliburs!
This year is going to be my first "on my own" with my new husband. I am making it my year of learning seasonal shopping, canning, dehydrating (if my mom's old machine still works), and "sneaking" foods i have historically not liked into foods. Some foods i probably would like if cooked different, others i know are good for me but ill never like so im going to learn to both powder and blend them to put in other foods.
I just discovered you! You are absolutely the Queen of Dehydrating! I have learned so much. Subscribed!
Do you have a video on how to make (dry) Beef Broth?
EXCELLENT VIDEO
Thank YOU so much for sharing this video
Indeed. I hit the clearance items first. I did that this weekend. I ran out of mason jars for all the veggies I dehydrated. ❤❤❤
Put your clean spun spinach in a bread bag and throw in the freezer for a few hours and you can crunch it up into little pieces in seconds.
I'll do this with sweet potato greens also.
Thanks!
Thank You for a very informative video.
Granted I don't know anything about dehydrating stuff, but would the addition of a little brush of oil on the silicone before you put the salsa on help stop it from sticking as it dehydrates?
Favorites so far: apples just because they're so good, rice for the convenience, frozen peas & carrots to go in soups
I have water bath and pressure canned since I was a small child working in the kitchen with my mother, I am 79 years old. I'm enjoying your channel however I do wish you would not speak so rapidly.. It's irritating after a while. Sorry if I offend. I'm just an old southern woman who does everything slowly. More enjoyable and comfortable that way. 😊
What kind of dehydrator do you have
Mesh on top. Brilliant!
Great ideas and thank you for sharing!
That mat looks like plastic canvas
do all grocery stores have clearance sections in their various departments?
How am I not familiar with this!
9:34 I turn it the green tray liner upside down over a big bowl, and crunch it up and let it fall off into the bowl as it's loosened.
What perfect timing! I was getting ready to Seal A Meal my spinach and baby greens for the freezer when I turned on YouTube and wa-la-! There you are, talking about dehydrating spinach and salsa! My greens are for my green smoothie shakes. I'm going to dehydrate my frozen fruit, too. I already have my chia and protein shake measured out into little jars for daily use, and adding the fruit and greens will make it a snap!! I might powder some, as well.
How do you rehydrate things without adding water? Is that impossible?
You come up with the best ideas! Putting a topper on my greens is going to help so much!
Love the clever trick with the extra mesh sheet!! Brilliant, and thank you!
I like the green powder.. im going to mix it into my homemade pasta l
