  1. What a terrible ref! In this day and age the refs shouldn’t be this incompetent the World Cup had atrocious refs as well I think IRB need to sit down had talk to the refs

  2. As I reviewed again and again the last pen, everythings could be excused but not the last beginning of charging done by one french player soon stopped at the edge of defensive line…the pen should have been repeated ten metres ahead!!

Buen partido, muchas gracias Guinness Six Nations 2024!!

    Saludos!!

  4. The French rugby crowd are very unsportsmanlike. They are braying partisans with no respect for the actual sport. I remember how terribly they conducted themselves against South Africa in the RWC QF, shrieking and jeering like banshees.

  5. From the Laws published on World Rugby:

    "Penalty goal

    22. If the kicker indicates to the referee the intent to kick at goal, the opposing team must stand still with their hands by their sides from the time the kicker starts to approach to kick until the ball is kicked.

    27. If the opposing team infringes while the kick is being taken but the kick at goal is successful, the goal stands and a further penalty is not awarded. If the kick is unsuccessful, the non-offending team is awarded a penalty 10 metres in front of the original mark.

    Sanction: Penalty."

    Also, in the laws…

    "Additional Persons

    29. The following may enter the playing area provided they do not interfere with play:

    – Two nominated water carriers during a stoppage in play for an injury to a player or when a try has been scored. (Note: the hot weather guidelines may warrant a one minute break per half.)

    – In matches with a squad size of 23, water carriers may only enter when a try is scored – the scoring side to an area on/near the 10m line in their own half. The non-scoring side, can take water into in-goal or retrieve from behind the dead-ball line. The water carriers must leave when the conversion is taken.

    – At a penalty try, no water carriers may enter the field.

    – Only when no tries are scored should a natural stoppage, in a neutral place on the pitch, be used to allow players to receive water. Where this coincides with an injury, water-carriers must leave the pitch as the medic leaves the pitch.

    – Players may access water in the Technical zone and from behind their own dead ball line. If water is left in-goal this privilege will be removed.

    – A water carrier must not be a Head Coach or Director of Rugby.

    – A person carrying only a kicking tee and one water bottle, (solely for the kicker’s use) after a team has indicated they intend to kick at goal, or a try has been scored.

    – The coaches attending to their teams at half-time.

    – These additional persons must remain in their technical area at all times before entering the field of play as permitted above. They must not field or touch the ball while it is in live play, including while in the technical area.

Sanction: Penalty where play would restart.

  6. Couple of things. Rugby is still a tough game but the warriors of old must cringe when they see what constitutes a send-off offence these days. Yellow and red cards being thrown out for minor and accidental infractions is ruining the game.
Secondly, why have a shot clock for that last penalty when the normal time had expired? I understand it’s to speed the game up and stop players milking time but in that situation, why does it matter? I used to love rugby but the current rules are making me switch off. Sad.

  7. Disgraceful refereeing. Cheating French as well. Can't charge a penalty, should have been retaken if not the clock should have been reset at least. Italy were well and truly robbed. Disgraceful

  8. Why was the very big water carrier handing out water with headphones (French) allowed to stay on the pitch in front of Italian kicker ! What is worse he is coming from far Right to left – – walking into the Kickers line of sight ! Strolling around the pitch like he had just smoked a joint – zero urgency to get off the pitch at any time !
