  1. I was in Sal for 3 weeks last year. I must honestly admit that it was a big disappointment. The people are very nice, but that's about it. You can't go anywhere without being bothered by pushy street vendors. Also the sea and the island itself look much more beautiful on the videos than in reality. You can forget about snorkeling, the current ensures that you cannot see anything. Except for the hotel area in Santa Maria, the island is a big ruin with great visible poverty.

    Pro's:

Shark Bay (bring your own slippers and you don't need a guide to see the sharks, don't fall for this tourist trap)

street dogs, these are really nice and sweet

Cabo Verde people are really nice

    negative:

The fish will undoubtedly taste perfect, but for non-fish eaters the food on the island is not great. We ate out twice a day for 20 days and tried many restaurants, the quality is not good.

Lots of very pushy street vendors

Apart from Shark Bay, the salt mine and the cable car, there is actually nothing to do, if you like to lie on the beach all day then this is the place for you.

I wouldn't have wanted to miss this holiday, but not a second time for us

  3. Interesting, last time I was there was 50 years ago, hard to imagine what it is today and how it would feel being surrounded by so many tourists when back then there were maybe just a handful in the whole island !

  4. glad you enjoyed cabo verde , the reason why some locals know polish is because there are a LOOOOT of poles coming there for holidays , you eunfortunately missed boris biedronka in sal
