  2. Lyrics:

Who I'ma turn to a pack

Run it up, run it up match

I gotta run it and crash it

Heart in me blacker than magic

    Lunacy

    Stirred in me

    Turn to the darkness

    No run from the darkness

    The opp he a-watches

    I cry, heal and cried

I lost him, I lost him

    A body, a coffin

    Just tell me you're ready

    I call in 'em ready

    You leave when I'm ready

Oh God, will you hear me?

    Ooh, ahaa

I clean the blood with my name

Turn to a God that would turn me away

    Ooh, ahaa

OT, OT, know one time, one time, one time, one time, one time

    Countin' 'em fast, hm hm

A body, a bag, hm hm

    Look at him now

    I knew it was death

The gun in the Ranger, hmm

    You was in danger

    I needed a savior

    Somebody to save us

    Turn the lights on

I need to leave, my heart knows waiver

Poured everything I had and still I need for you

    Say oooh, oooh, ooooh, oooh

    Say I need, I need

    I need, I needed

    You

    Ooh, ahaa

I clean the blood with my name

Turn to a God that would turn me away

    Ooh, ahaa

I leave my body in vain

    Bless me in life

    Turn my pride into pain

    Ooh, aahaa

OT, OT, know one time, one time, one time, one time, one time

    A kin to me now

The friend in my enemy now

I'm thumbing through cash on a plane

I sweeten a bitter me now

    Thou who shall cross me

    Shall never prosper

    You'd rather die in vain

    Than to die a man

    I can't relate

  4. This song being titled "A Body, A coffin" did something to me. It pleasantly surprised me by not sounding at all like what I was expecting it to sound like. It's haunting, transcendental and joyful. I don't know why but a lot of popular "black" music has desensitised me to black violence, death and pain. It's hard not to consume all of that and not view real lives being lost as just another statistic read out on the news. This song and Amaarae's gorgeous, gorgeous voice reminded me that there is so much grace and dignity even in death and that gives me hope for our people. It's so touchingly human.
