On The Ground | Scorpion Kings: Amapiano Artists Need To Speak More

Scorpion Kings (Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa) hardly ever do interviews. We got one of those rare opportunities to sit down with the super duo at Schweppes’ Born Social event in Cape Town.

They told us about their thoughts on the growth of Amapiano, why Piano artists don’t do interviews and their plans for 2024. “2024, siyadla!”…

  1. Slikour is right because outsiders are now trying to take ownership of this sound, these guys need to be much more vocal about this sound that they created. I’m Zimbabwean and i heard this sound when it was still underground in South Africa, i hate the fact that other people that are not South African are trying to claim this sound as theirs, some of us that heard this sound from the beginning know that it’s South African. These guys need to do more interviews and own the narrative.

  2. SLKOUR is very intelligent in interviews coz he knows already that Kabza is not good in speaking english he end up getting shy .and kept his silence .then he advice him to speak in kasi language so that it can be easier from him to speak out .shout to slkour. Phori .Kabza king of piano we love yu boy .

  3. Kabza is always sitting there, quietly pondering during interviews… he probably figured out like 3 new songs (in his head) during this interview! 😂😂😂

  4. 😢 kabzar say something common , I think Phori has captured kabzar and silenced him. Remember kabzar saying the first Scorpion Kings album that was supposed to be kabzar solo album

  5. I've noticed some discussions about KABZA being quiet and people wanting him to speak more. I'd like to emphasize that KABZA is a naturally reserved and quiet individual, which is simply a part of who he is. His exceptional talent in music speaks volumes, and he excels in his craft.

As time goes on, he may become more comfortable with interviews, but it's important to respect his personality. I was disappointed by the way the Slikour mocked him for being quiet😡, such behavior is disrespectful, especially on a platform viewed by millions. It's crucial to create an environment that encourages artists to express themselves authentically.

Despite the challenges, I wish KABZA continued success on his musical journey. He's undeniably the best at what he does, and I hope he receives the respect and recognition he deserves. Danko✌🏼

  6. I just wish Mac and Phori could kiss and make uo and give us a proper two hour interview so that the world could learn a thing or two abiut the origin of piano. Mac has been saying it that this guys are not vocal enough they should be out there representing the country on a large scale cause now niger boys seems to be takong the spotlight. They are they keys ro opening many doors abroad for the upcoming artist but it seems they are only ohkay doing it here than internationally
