Sad how downhill LA has gone. Now it's a big dumpster of theft and drug addicts.

@yurthankasomwo436

We too have the story of Los Angeles. From our forefathers till now. Why the Name Los Angeles? Why do they have Golden hair and little curly? Why heaven became so high? It was really fantastic and unimaginable story.

@imapaine-diaz4451

My grandfather was an operator at big creek powerhouse, build for operating the red cars in Los Angeles by HE Huntington. My Grandmother made him quit after one of the other operators was killed by somehow getting across one of the lines. I was told that all they found after were his shoes!😲😲

@artalvitre8422

these are the colonialist who stole land and minerals and ruined the environment as you see it today this land still belongs to the tongva tribe no matter whats on it today the us govt never purchased the land from these people,they only infested it with all the crime and homelessness you see today brought from europe

@PCAGA2298

Love this California history. I always wondered where the street name Doheny came from

@DoubleMrE

Surf City USA is NOT Huntington Beach. It is Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii.🤙

@rogerfiliault3546

When they talk about the city of angles they didn't tell ppl that its the city of the fallen angles

@seanmanning652

The Illuminati child molestors that built the Evil Empire? no thanks

@JamesBlackmanIII

First of all, I stayed at the Doheny Estate between 1963 and 1969 so I was very interested. Was this awful writing by AI ? WOW that’s some majorly awful go nowhere writing with meandering paragraphs that go in endless circles you never come to a point and news alert this isn’t about the gilded age whatsoever. Your images don’t correlate what you were talking about for instance you were talking about custom vehicles of Dohenys while showing images of the the house again yet again, and the images of the colleges and of the universities were not the actual universities. Way too much stock footage You’re just pulling at crap. This Really poorly done. Again you are historically all over the board and come to NO academic conclusion. We have no Insight you’re just listing historical events while tossing up unrelated images. And you had a ton of images that weren’t even in Los Angeles.
Seriously this was a major fail. And you got stuck between 1910-1929 that’s absolutely not The Gilded Age of Los Angeles! The Gilded Age of Los Angeles starts in the 1870s around the Victorian suburbs of Pasadena, Angelina Heights. Boyle Heights . With people like Otis,Wilshire, Banning, Wrigleys, Chandlers, Baldwin, Workman, Temple, Boyle. Doheny was a young man in his 20s in Wisconsin he was a drifter. And in order for him to make big money in oil the automobile needs to be invented and being massed produced in order for that to occur. 1920s not the Gilded Age.
This was very disappointing. I hate how uninformed everyone is including you are about Los Angeles my Cities History it’s haphazardly glossed over. So the insulting equivalent of this is doing the Gilded Age of New York and you started at the 1920s and the building of the Empire State Building…😂 get a grip Leaving out the Astors and the horse drawn carriages down Park Avenue…do yourself a favor take this video down its a mess. Seriously in the first part of the video I think that fake announcer voice says Doheny about 114 times! 😂

@CheekandBluster

God I fucking hate colorized black and white footage

@longfade

‘Opulent’ is a good word, but it loses its effect when you say it over, and over, again. There are a lot of repetitive superlatives throughout. Maybe you need an editor or a thesaurus. Good stuff otherwise.

@inchon66

They built LA after they snatched the land from the indigenous people.

@corinnehernandez4549

What about Pio Pico?

@dddddadadad1796

Take a shot every time this guy says “DOHENY” during this 😂

@heatherrue2655

Great documentary. Was hoping you’d also include Lucky Baldwin.

@daves4320

The "Gilded Age" was end of the Civil war until about 1902 before cars really – I think we can say L.A. is totally different age – part of the roaring 20s perhaps or maybe we could call it the Hollywood Age?

Nice documentary. The eleven labs narration voice is pleasant to listent to.

@mrshiney2

Well obviously the golden era of So Cal has come and gone. It now declines into a dystopian culture that has no where to go but down. Over built and rapped of its natural resources, LA and Orange County will slowly crumble under its own weight.

@johnmcgrew7128

You can kiss the rich asses all you want, but they were greedy, selfish pigs, that didn't give a crap about anyone but themselves.

@njv1234

LABJ= Los Angeles before the Jews

@peckishpagan

I’m amused at how this video reflects the stereotypical LA style: only including those that out-slutted real talent, marginalizing any real talent (that actually stitched random meaningless things together to form something that, for many reasons, still lacks that vital center known as a heart) and THEN completely ignoring anyone that laid the groundwork for all of it to happen. Now do a real city like Cleveland.

@louisemoore7715

Newsome has destroyed CA….I went to USC with members of the Doheny family….

@rubenjames7345

"… The onset of his familial responsibilities". LOL, not the most positive way to describe that, bro.

@MIKIEEYEZ1975

$100 million? JD Rockefeller had more than 10X that. Doheney was a pimple next to Rockefeller!! 😂😂😂😂

@Yvonnemar77

We were Never a Territory in California

@rogeliomendez9135

This video helps answer questions I thought about while driving around Socal

@johnboomerboy3042

Sounds like Edward Doheny found out what it’s like to get ahead of J. D. Rockefeller.
