  1. I like your cuts but this one isn’t right . Too high in the back and on the sides it wasn’t blended together. There’s a disconnect between the faded part and the super dark area. The idea of a taper a gradual dark to light area. I would’ve definitely cut the darker part a little lower to blend it more .

  2. For beginners you can just go in order. Its what works best for you. My method is to cut all hair to desired length then:

Liners/edgers for the bottom where he eventually shaves

Open no guard above that. I immediately knock out all guide lines so i immediately go closed and knock out the bottom line. If youre attempting to detail and get even more blurry you can clean up the area by gradually opening your blade in this area. That will come with time

    Use the 1/2 guard open

Repeat going under that with it closed.

Then repeat up with a 1 or a 1.5 and then 2 depending on your hair.

Ive been cutting others hair since i was a teenager and cutting my own for 9 years. Learning how to fade isnt hard and will save you soooo much money. You will go through the stages of damn my cut sucks lol. But eventually youll get to the point where people start asking where you get a cut from so they can go. And if you cutting your own hair, buy the self cut system. It has 3 mirrors that you put on a door and you see all angles of your head with no hand mirrors required.
